"At first I bawled for a month straight. I was so sad. I just went into this weird funk," she recalls. "And I dyed my hair black. When we were dating, Nick wanted me to get highlights -- and so I did that, and I got myself looking great. And then, on the day we broke up, I was, like, I want to make my hair black now -- I don't want to look pretty; I want to look hard-core."

Skipping the 20 year high school reunion tonight.

Aaaah. This is sweet.

EMMAh 08.09.2008 05:15 PM

Your not curious to see what all those high school losers turned out to be?

Savage Clone 08.09.2008 05:18 PM

I think I can rest assured that anyone who would go to a high school reunion is a square.

Ha ha ha, yeah I kind of have to go to my 10th reunion coming up here in 2 years since I'm the Vice President and all. Plus, everyone will be pissed if I don't show up.

EMMAh 08.09.2008 06:08 PM

I have the most massive bump on my head from bashing it in all sorts of places on the sail boat. Fucking hell.

Ornette Coleman rules

MellySingsDoom 08.09.2008 06:19 PM

^^^ "Free Jazz" = Infinite Win.

"The Shape Of Jazz To Come" has Win written all over it too. His life story is really interesting, as well.

Derek 08.09.2008 06:22 PM

Lonely Woman is the greatest composition ever.

I was gonna go to bed right now but now I need to wait and let my mum in the house.

MellySingsDoom 08.09.2008 06:25 PM

Derek - if you're into your jazz, you must get John Coltrane's "Live In Seattle" - completely mindblowing and, in it's own way, one of the most extreme pieces of music you'll ever hear. The bit where him and Pharoah Sanders literally scream out an Om mantra vocally is truly staggering for all the right reasons.

Derek 08.09.2008 06:28 PM

I love Coltrane but not heard that, I'll definitely listen to it though!

Jazz is the one type of music that's better live than on record.

downloading as we speak

MellySingsDoom 08.09.2008 06:48 PM

Guys, you will seriously love it (TrueMellyFax - I scored an original vinyl copy of that when I was unemployed for v v cheap :))

acousticrock87 08.09.2008 06:48 PM

Live in Seattle is almost terrifying. It's too good to be safe.

MellySingsDoom 08.09.2008 06:53 PM

The "Live In Japan" 4xCD set is even better that "Live In Seattle" too - an hour long version of "My Favourite Things", which even cuts the version on "Live In The Villager Vanguard Again".

John Coltrane = GOD.

acousticrock87 08.09.2008 06:57 PM

Coltrane and Monk are the best musicians to ever live. And they played together.

Everything after them has just been mere humans goofing around with the remains of music.

MellySingsDoom 08.09.2008 07:00 PM

The only people who could literally cut Coltrane are Albert Ayler and Cecil Taylor.
TOTAL respect to Miles Davis too - his evil charisma in the 60's is staggering, and many "rcok" musos shouls listen to "In A Silent Way" too.
