yes. who doesn't? even juno did

We talking about that film? Sure she said "and by the way, Sonic Youth suck. It's just noise", much to the delight of friends around me in the cinema at the time. |
Quote:
wait-- 2 bluths! i just realized. wasn't the other GOB? wait it wasn't gob but a lookalike. what? im having a terrible morning and i can't think straight |
ok i looked and hard candy was a different actor-- it wasn't gob
but the dirty old man in juno was the other bluth guy. in any case... i forget i forget everything |
Juno was pretty good. At least I thought it was when I saw it back when it came out. I don't know what I'd think now. Maybe too twee w/ the Moldy Peaches and everything. I don't know. But I do remember that Sonic Youth line very much so. And doesn't Jason Bateman talk about Hole too? I think?
Who played Juno's friend in that movie? I'm picturing a blonde w/ curly hair? It's been a long time. But I think she was in something else I liked after that. Hmm. Maybe she was in Easy A or something. Hard Candy I also remember as being good. But I remember nothing but the synospsis. I couldn't tell you who else was in the movie. |
You Are Wanted. German series about hackers. Pretty good after one episode. Funny, I was trying to figure out who the male lead looked like, ends up it's the big blonde female knight in Game of Thrones.

her friend i don't remember but imdb sez: ...oh, i don't know if she had a friend. can't remember all details. but anyway, it's really a pity that her adversary in hard candy wasn't the actual gob bluth but a lookalike |

Hard Candy ... wasn't that Heath Ledger as crippling heroin addict? EDIT: Nope, that was just "Candy." Man we suck at movies today!!! ... And yeah, I think the "Sonic Youth sucks..." line was more of a *wink wink* thing. A dig at the hipster older guy (who, my friends, is US) from the deep millennial spirit. It was made with irreverent reverence. I liked that movie too. And yes, two Bluths. |
SYMBOLS, SOUP NAZI, WHOEVER THE FUCK ELSE...
Did you guys hear that Arrested Development is coming back ... again? For a fifth season on Netflix? :fuckyou:  :fuckyou: |
Finished up Supernatural Season 12.
|
Quote:
Really? I saw it showed up on Netflix. It's one of the better of the CW shows. And Jesus Christ... 12 seasons! Any indication that there will be a 13th? |
If you consider IMDB a reliable source, there will be a season 13. They certainly didn't end season 12 on a "series finished" note.

Wow. I was just re-watching Season 4 with someone who hadn't seen it before. They had the usual criticisms. I was in utter awe of its labyrinthine structure. Anyway it won't air til next year. Can't wait to download it. |
Quote:
ha ha! maybe you can download some venezuelan chickens instead https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...6fd_story.html Quote:
i saw the news about the show, yeah, which is great. but it would be awesome if they could bring the whole ensemble together rather than do individually-focused episodes like before i mean the season 4 was a nice consolation prize and i liked it okay but it didn't quite have the same spark as the originals |
Quote:
Oh really? But 2017 needs the Bluths! And so will 2018! The Bluths should stop going away. Even the show's low points make most other feeble attempts at comedy seem completely goddamn piss poor. |
I thought S4 improved upon second viewing, I guess because I didn't have the "expectation" part and took it for what it is.

I had no issue with it either time. The second time around it really baffled me that anyone anywhere would be irked or let down by it. Really fucking made me laugh my stupid goofy ass off. Ended on a great note too. What a bunch of bullshit! I love it! And yeah, the labyrinthine narrative is pretty impressive. Season 4 plays out like a novel, what with the different perspectives and interweaving plots. I loved it. Who the fuck wants more of the exact same thing? I didn't want Third to sound like Dummy. New is good. |
Started Fargo season 3. intrigued.
watched American Gods episode 5. awesome. they really did the book's story justice. Helps that Neil Gaiman was exec producer. |

Jealous AF right now. |

pretty icky first 5 minutes. I didn't keep on past that... |
Kids Songs With Cat Power
like noone give a shit about Q :D having an intermission from Game 1 of NBA finals, I'm aiming to watch Game2 tonight, which is at 3AM my time :( |
![]() You guys, this is really something. I suppose it lacks some of the multiple levels of multiple, engrossing characters that some of the previous seasons had, but boy does it make up for it with some seriously serious shit. Unfortunately, as fucked up as the Underwoods are, watching an alternate America where they run the show is almost quaint a this point. Like a pleasant piece of escapist fiction. They're still utterly terrifying, of course, but I'd legitimately take them over The Orange One. Well, minus the multiple homicides of course. Sadly we live in a world where our president is too stupid to commit first degree murder and get away with it. I'm not even sure if that's a joke or not. But yah. House of Cards is legitimately one of the best. |

I've seen some RIDICULOUS promo art for "The Trilogy." One poster in particular — I believe it was Fromm Sports Illustrated — looked like an ad for a Zack Snyder superhero movie. Just waaaaaayyy overblown. I'm pulling for Golden State. I'm not really a basketball guy, but I think they're the better team. I'm not on board with this "Lebron is better than Jordan" shit. My ass he's better than Jordan. So says a bunch of wankers who don't remember Jordan's golden era, either because they weren't alive or because they were breastfeeding. Lebron better than Jordan My. Fucking. Ass. |
The Secret Agent, Toby Jones. Good work, great acting, Conrad story, very loosley adapted. I thought it was really good.
|
haaaa haaaa that cat power video was awesome
anyway been watching amazon's ALPHA HOUSE which is a few years old now (obama was still president) but it's funny and has a good cast. been also watching INDIAN SUMMERS which is a british pbs-style soap opera about colonial times in india. it's not great writing but it's a good period reconstruction and i got caught in the story and now i must watch. also been spottily catching up with SHERLOCK season 4 which-- is it me or did it get too fucking baroque and ponderous? each episode is long as fuck and i'm tired of the abuse of flashbacks. doesn't serve many purposes. it's not really doing it for me anymore. so a bit of a chore. so i'm using it to play phone games where there's a wait time. |

I've heard nothing but negative things about Sherlock season 4. Which is really a shame, because seasons 1 and 2 were totally fucking excellent. Season 3 wasn't even a season! It was just "The Abominable Bride" ... an hour and a half-long dream sequence. I have no plans to watch season 4. |
I'm also watching the two best comedies on television right now (Silicon Valley and VEEP) as they become available on HBOGO. Both are excellent.
WAY behind on Doctor Who, which is usually pretty much my most looked-forward-to show of any given week (or, indeed, YEAR). I'm probably going to just binge on them when they're all out because I've missed five or six at this point. That's never happened before. I suck. |
Why was there no Better Call Saul this week?
|
Quote:
and yeah the abominable bride was... abominable ha haaa haaaaa i didn't know the condemnation was widespread. i thought it was just me being "special" haaaa haaaa haaa actually not me-- my wife was the first one to lose patience with it. she's got great instincts for this type of thing. |
Quote:
I saw it, pretty good |
Quote:
Nope. There wasn't an episode this week. Last one was May 22, next one is Tuesday. Skipped a week. No other shows skipped a week that I know of. |
saw the foreign release -episode 8
|
Quote:
Oh... well, shit. :( |
Quote:
anyway, this show is produced in new mexico by union crews, and i know some people who work in it they thank you for your contribution to the betterment of their lives, working-class brother! |
Quote:
Haaaaa haaaa haaaaaaaa ;) I fucking love New Mexico. Hey! Do you know anyone who works in comms/media/PR? I can see myself getting paid TV-money. Also, I don't pirate shows, so that pretty much makes me a "company man" right off the bat. |
SOOOOOoooo...
Apparently the next season of American Horrror Story is going to be based on and around the greatest horror of all... the 2016 presidential election. Seriously. I hear it's going to open with actual debate footage, and follow a group of characters who are tangled up and affected by the election somehow. ![]() |
