Strange. I too just recently came across this movie last week, looks good.

A compelling story. Both Crowe and DiCaprio were both rather good in it.

I could watch this gif a thousand times in a row and still think it's brilliant.

PS: I love Death Proof

noisereductions 09.13.2010 02:30 PM

I'd say that gif is more like reading through all yr posts about things rocking or not rocking.

Rob Instigator 09.13.2010 03:32 PM

yes, rocking rules.

rocking OUT even more so.

It is the greatest thing in the world. It freed a generatyion of teens to wave their cocks and slap their pussy lips till both got engorged and then they fucked all night and then they rocked some more and little richard started it all man cuz he wanted the people creaming out their buttholes for his rock n roll

If it does not rock then it is not rock n roll. CREED, is NOT rock n roll. they are pussy electrified adult contemporary shit!

rock on everyone! rock on. it is the last legal catharsis....

don;t let unrocking bands like animal collective or battles take it away from us.

atsonicpark 09.13.2010 03:37 PM

At least Battles have a bit of songwriting and production talent. I'm still not sure what AC has done to make them warrant the success they've achieved. They're downright bland and boring, and their albums are a chore to sit through.

atsonicpark 09.13.2010 03:38 PM

...in my opinion...

Rob Instigator 09.13.2010 03:39 PM

I like songwriting, but I want my bands to ROCK OUT.

I hate paying good $$ to see a tepid show of lukewarm, mid-tempo blather (last Interpol concert anyone?) It is the single worst.

I would rather pay money for a mediocre band who MEANS IT and plays every song as if it's their last one of the night, and at least seeks to entertain the audience than watch polished musicians agonize through yet another dull song whose merits are not evident through the PA system at the local dive...

atsonicpark 09.13.2010 03:44 PM

my son, my son, what have ye done? - 7/10

Okay, Lynch supposedly only "produced" this, but there are some downright Lynchian moments in this film. Perhaps they were done in tribute? In a way, it seems like a combo of Herzog and Lynch trademarks... mixed in with something completely different than you'd expect from either one. And, well, it doesn't completely work, especially the ending, but it's an interesting little film nonetheless. There was apparently a lot of frustration during the shoot, which comes across in the film. A strangely convaluted mess of a film with the worst trailer I've ever seen! But worth a watch.

Rob Instigator 09.13.2010 03:49 PM

Is that directed by Herzog?

Dr. Eugene Felikson 09.13.2010 04:10 PM

yeah

atsonicpark 09.13.2010 04:22 PM

"A Werner Herzog film" probably suggests he directed it. ;)

But yeah, it's on btjunkie. Perfect quality, except the picture looks a bit faded -- maybe that was intentional. It was filmed on a RED camera... hm.

girlgun 09.13.2010 04:29 PM

well Danse Manatee is a chore. I'm a big fan of AC, but I can agree with you there.

atsonicpark 09.13.2010 05:22 PM

I just never understood how a band with annoying vocals, murky production, and no memorable riffs, or melodies, could blow up. I mean, I don't think they're the worst band in the world or anything, just kinda boring and forgettable... definitely an unlikely success story.

noisereductions 09.13.2010 05:37 PM

well once they got to Feels, Strawberry Jam, and MPP there's a fucking ton of melodies. But I mean, I'm a fan and I'm still astounded that uh "regular" people like them or whatever. Liek they were on album charts or whatever.

atsonicpark 09.13.2010 05:45 PM

Well, yeah, they may have a "ton of melodies" but none that are very, uh, well... good... or, hell, melodic. I am surprised they charted; then again, they are simple, safe, boring, and bland, so I guess I'm not that surprised. That last album they did, with that same boring bass drum beat on every song, cleaned up the production but the songs were SO drawn-out, long, and dull. Ugh.

I do think Sung Tongs is a neat little record, at least. That's probably the only one I'd ever want to listen to, for the rest of my life.

noisereductions 09.13.2010 05:54 PM

they have some great melodies. "Peace Bone"? "Water Curses"? The bulk of MPP.

atsonicpark 09.13.2010 06:01 PM

Peace Bone annoys me, I never understood the deal with that song. I really hate the electronics on that song, DUNDLE DUNDLE. Just sounds ugly. Really, that's the main thing I get from them: For a popular band, they sure do sound downright ugly. Except for MPP, which is so, so, so overproduced... it glosses the more ugly, untrained, unrestrained murk but at the same time takes out any charm they ever had before, the whole album reminds me of music for an Ipod commercial. And whoever programmed the drum beats on that album must have been taking the piss. I think Water Curses is alright, simply because it's an ep, they're one of those bands who can release 10-20 minutes of music and not where out their welcome, stuff like Feels and Strawberry Jam has so much filler, especially in all the pointless ambient interludes between songs. In all actuality, it's probably their best work ever, but I think MPP is horrible, especailly that last track that sounds like Baha Men. Haha.

ANYWAY

They're really making a NEIGHBOR NO. 13 REMAKE?!

noisereductions 09.13.2010 06:03 PM

shrug. I like what I like. "Peace Bone" and "Water Curses" and "Blueish" are probably my top 3 AC songs.

atsonicpark 09.13.2010 06:05 PM

You know what song I think is awful?

...REVEREND GREEN
REVEREND GREEN

AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it'sALRIGHTtoFEELTOGETHERONW
AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HE'S TOUCHIN YER BREAST TOUCHIN HYER CHEST AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

...what the fuck is with that song?

noisereductions 09.13.2010 06:48 PM

do you like "People"?

atsonicpark 09.13.2010 09:00 PM

it's alright, yeah.

PEOPLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
