This pair I just bought is my 4th or 5th pair of the same kind. I love them, they sound great, they just quite working after about a year. My huge Sony Studio monitors have been taped back together after being sat and stepped on, but they still work.

Well, if you think about it, any lifestyle is going to put you into a grave.

I pulled mine out of my backpack too harshly and they snapped. I tried superglue, and that didn't work. I'll probably have to move on to gorilla glue and duct tape, cause damn do I miss those things. I have a pair of earbuds - the kind with the plastic soft thing that goes inside your ear. they always fall out regardless.

Sonic Youth 37 12.10.2008 03:55 AM

My Sony's snapped at the hinge on the left side. It took super glue and duct tape to get them back together properly.

terriblecanyons 12.10.2008 04:03 AM

That's about where mine's broken, but it somehow snapped above the hinge. wtf.

Sonic Youth 37 12.10.2008 04:06 AM

My hand is throbbing because I punched my desk and I have to type. Smart Josh, real smart.

Oh, random quote from tonight:
My friend: "So the Neanderthals and Homo sapiens interbred?"
Me: "Yeah, the Homo sapiens totally pointed at the Neanderthals and said 'I'm gonna fuck you out of existence'. It was totally like that."

terriblecanyons 12.10.2008 04:08 AM

I lol'd.

Sonic Youth 37 12.10.2008 04:10 AM

Yeah, that was the highlight of the night that was full of inappropriate jokes about our anthropology professor and hominids.

terriblecanyons 12.10.2008 04:15 AM

Why am I watching Fresh Prince?

Sonic Youth 37 12.10.2008 04:16 AM

probably the same reason I'm watching What's Eating Gilbert Grape...no fucking clue.

terriblecanyons 12.10.2008 04:21 AM

God damnit. I don't even like this show.

May I just say for the record that 'cat'-astrophe is a pun that can never be bad.

Pearl Jam to Reissue Ten Four Different Ways

Various versions contain "MTV Unplugged" DVD, replica of original demo cassette

Pearl Jam
's Ten was the album that launched the band's career and, unfortunately, the careers of endless Pearl Jam imitators. But Eddie Vedder and co. will hearken back to a time before Nickelback by reissuing their 1991 debut in four different editions via Legacy Recordings on March 24.

The most basic of these Ten reissues is called the Legacy Edition. It features one CD with the original album remastered and another CD with the album both remastered and remixed by producer Brendan O'Brien. The second disc also includes six bonus tracks: "Brother", "Just a Girl", "State of Love and Trust", "Breath and a Scream", "2,000 Mile Blues", and "Evil Little Goat".

The Deluxe Edition has everything in the Legacy Edition but expands upon it by including a DVD featuring Pearl Jam's "MTV Unplugged" performance from 1992. The "Unplugged" show has never been commercially released before, and this DVD includes a performance of "Oceans" that was never aired.

Then there's the Vinyl Collection edition of the reissue, which is like the Legacy Edition without the bonus tracks and on vinyl: one LP with the original Ten remastered and one LP with Ten remastered and remixed by Brendan O'Brien.

Finally, there's the mother lode: the Super Deluxe Edition. This one collects everything in the Deluxe Edition and the Vinyl Collection but adds a couple very important things: a live set recorded at Seattle's Magnuson Park from September 20, 1992 called Drop in the Park on two vinyl LPs, and a replica of "Momma-Son", Pearl Jam's original demo cassette featuring "Alive", "Once", and "Footsteps". The package also includes a recreation of Vedder's composition notebook with replica notes, images, and other rare memorabilia.
Here's what the Super Deluxe Edition looks like:

All of these reissues feature re-designed artwork overseen by bassist Jeff Ament, who was also the art director for the original Ten artwork. The cover of the new version of Ten can be seen at the top of this story.

Even better news for Jam fans: These reissues are just the first releases in a two-year catalog reissue campaign leading up to Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary in 2011.

regardless of what people think of their music and whatever jokes you come up with, how often does your favorite band do this much for their fan base?

It just seems to me like a bunch of shit to buy.

pantophobia 12.10.2008 09:47 PM

maybe, but it's a LOT of shit to pick from, if SY did something like this (which they won't), but if they did wow, that is like gold mine

Exactly, but dude, you posted this on the SY forum, meaning a bunch of
people who have heard two full Pearl Jam albums, tops, will jump through
their skin to judge everything the band does.

EVOLghost 12.11.2008 08:42 PM

What's wrong with Pearl Jam?
