"The Stendhal Syndrome" This was only the second Argento I've seen after "Suspiria". I thought it was good, but not great. Never been a big Asia Argento fan as an actress. I went into the movie expecting not to like it.

I watched this tonight. I was in the mood for a fun, B-horror movie. Boy did this deliver. It was a mixed bag though. It basically wants to be "Friday the 13th" on a ski mountain. All the main actresses were cute. Yet there was only some brief nudity from them, which was odd and disappointing because you see some guy's ass in it too. Some of the kills were done well, but then a few were off screen. Then the ending was of Sci-fi original movie quality. So basically this movie was all over the place. I rated it two stars.

TheFoxBen 10.10.2010 07:29 AM

9/10. Not only one of the best animated movies I've ever seen but also one of the best movies from Wes Anderson: it's so funny and clever. The characters are great and they did an amazing job on the voices, it's incredible. So yeah, this movie is really good, watch it.

chairman of the bored 10.10.2010 10:28 AM

Oof. I've been so turned off by W. Anderson's downward trajectory I never gave it a chance. Maybe I'll give it a go.

My favorite Argento film has always been Phenomena.

It's a bit rougher around the edges than a film like Suspiria (which I actually consider a good thing), but it's definitely just as surreal, and offers a much, much, much more entertaining story. If you're looking for your next Argento flick, I couldn't recommend this one more!

batreleaser 10.10.2010 01:38 PM

"Phenomena" was kinda gross. My lame roomate two years ago walked in with his also lame buddies when Jennifer Carpenter falls in the decaying body parts. They thought I was nuts.

LifeDistortion 10.10.2010 03:37 PM

Thanks for the reccomend Eugene. Keep meaning to see more of Argento's films, particularly his earlier stuff, just haven't made much of an effort. Saw the "The Stendhal Syndrome" because it was reccomended to me and it was on Instant Watch, but been meaning to see more of his films where he was at his peak say his films from "The Bird With the Crystal Plummage (1970)" up to "Opera", (1987) if the ratings on Netflix are any indication.

finding nobody 10.10.2010 06:29 PM

Touch Me In The Morning was incredible. So disturbing yet, so funny! I probably laughed out loud close to a dozen times while watching that!

Right now I'm wataching

on vhs

I just bought The Best of and Too Hot For Troma's Edge Tv and Best of Crapston Villas

atsonicpark 10.10.2010 06:31 PM

Touch Me in the Morning defines our generation imo. An old man in a thong talking about fucking and women being a grain of sand. GReat movie!

My Argento ratings:
Bird - 8/10
Cat - 7/10
Flies - 6/10
Deep Red - 9/10
Suspiria - 6/10
Inferno - 4/10
Tenebre - 10/10
Phenomena - 6/10
Opera - 7/10
Two Evil Eyes - 4/10 (his half gets 8/10, Romero's gets a 0/10)

Phantom of the Opera - 1/10
Sleepless - 5/10
Card Player - 5/10
Do You Like Hitchockc? - 4/10

Certain elements reminded me of Brain Damage, others were slightly similar to John Carpenter's The Thing. One thing is for certain though, I've never seen anything quite like this. I really appreciated the FPS shot from a knife's viewpoint as it was being used to stab someone. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

8.5/10

EVIL WITHIN (or "Baby Blood" as it's sometimes called) is something of a masterpiece. Saw it many years ago... some of the effects were done by the Dead Alive team. Love the gap toothed heroine and the baby pulling on the organs haha. Truly weird movie, AMAZING atmosphere. I guess I can sorta see a Henenlotter type influence, but the film is more like a Slime City/Body Melt type movie, or maybe Schramm/Der Todesking art horror type stuff at times. Sick atmosphere. Check those films out.

Re-watched this masterpiece:

And, hey, you can stream the whole 73 minute movie right now: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...44791488368382

I've said this before, but I really think Argento is a good cinematogropher and a bad director. Which is to say that once you get past how great his camera work is and how amazing the films look, you realize that a lot of the movies are bad/boring/trite.

"Linnea Quigley's Ass Tastes like Copper Pennies"

great read!

My irrefutable mantra is that licking clit and asshole is the pause that refreshes. The memory of shoving my tongue deep in Linnea Quigley’s asshole is the highlight of my 71 years of living.

When we were living together, she would bring her tasty little body in front of me and after sucking on every crevice I would place her on her belly and bury my mouth in between her curvaceous cheeks. I would launch my tongue like a SCUD missile and lap her asshole with the gusto. I would eat her like she was Kobe beef and after 50 minutes when my jaws and tongue were filled with the pain of my excesses, I would flip her on her back and eat and worship her clit.

Her orgasms were so filled with earthquakes like tremors that I truly felt like I was in the Garden of Eden. Then Linnea in gratitude, appreciation and horniness would moan, “I want some of your Jew juice.” She was the finest cocksucker I have ever known and would blow me dry.

Even though we were engaged, I would give her $200 for each time I popped a load. But because I am a Jew I had to try to get a deal. So she got $200 for the first ejaculation at the beginning of the week and then only $100 thereafter. The more times I came, the more money I saved. If I could come four times a week that meant that rather than spending $800, I spent $500. That was a $300 dollar savings"

I love Tenebre, but the scene where the lesbian lovers get killed and the camera goes over and through the house is the most unneccesarry but still pretty impressive camera shot I've ever seen.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 10.13.2010 10:58 AM

Sick link, ASP. Quigley is a babe. I would love to eat her asshole.

That was the best part of the movie, haha. If I remmeber correctly, there's a making-of scene on the DVD only for that scene.

Also, Derek, "I'M RELOADED NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

triangle - don't expect to be scared but it's still really cool. also if you're going to watch this one, d/l it without reading anything about it or watching the trailer cos its spoilt easily.

noisereductions 10.13.2010 02:16 PM

Antichrist was shit.

Every month is horror month in our household.

netflix has about 5 movies called triangle that all look horror-esque haha...any idea when it was made or who directed it?

ni'k 10.13.2010 03:35 PM

2009 christopher smith.

atsonicpark 10.13.2010 05:19 PM

Yeah, Antichrist is GARBAGE. After some careful thought, I think Von Trier is one of the worst directors ever. I've seen everything he's done, and the most I can say for random films of his is when I see a 2 second shot and go, "oh, that scene was kinda cool." And he's made one of the only films I'd give a 0/10, The Idiots.

atsonicpark 10.13.2010 05:27 PM

BTW, due to popular demand, Giuseppe is selling (most of) his films again.

ni'k 10.13.2010 07:23 PM

just saw human centipede. doesnt seem to have much point, there's no real motivation for the bad guy to be doing what he's doing. nevertheless the fact that it goes between german, japanese and english with no subs in the way it did was enjoyable.

the mist - excellent. best stephen king adaption since the shining prob.

That's a bold statement. I'll give it a shot. It's gonna take one hell of a flick to beat Pet Sematary, Thinner, 1408, Misery and It though!

Too bad this thread turned to horror movies discussion about 400 pages ago.
