...Naked City!

One of my all time favorites. I watched the newly colorized version. I prefer the black and white one.

Lukas Hass is great.

Been watching this:

Finally saw every episode after only catching a few before now. Gotta say, it's pretty cool, PFFR are clearly geniuses, but there's some shitty moments here or there. It's not utter perfection like Xavier is.

Also, watched all these with the old lady:

So fucking funny.

You can't be serious! Why?

They were both pretty much exactly the same...

Tokolosh 05.28.2009 12:56 PM

I totally disagree. The original cast has way better actors.

noisereductions 05.28.2009 12:59 PM

I quite liked the acting in the American one. [shrug]. Like Adam said, they were pretty much the same... I mean it was the director and all. Maybe I just preferred watching without reading the subtitles? Tim Roth? Naomi Watts? Michael Pitt? Who knows? It's just a good film.

I was pretty fucked up and watching that at Haydens old apartment with a bunch of people... and i was THE ONLY FUCKING PERSON LAUGHING!! and it wasn't just like, 'hahaha'... it was like I couldn't even breathe i was laughing so hard. and then some assfuck was like, 'this is kinda fucked up' right after the cartoon is over with and i just felt like a fool.

thats when you know you have a good show.

I wasn't a huge fan of either version. I found them both interesting, conceptually, and I like the idea of "challenging" the viewer and whatnot, but the message behind the film(s) was really obvious and a bit silly. I like the ideas, rewinding scenes and breaking the 4th wall, cool stuff, and I'm glad it was put out in a mainstream context, it probably blew a lot of people's minds. I'm not a huge fan of that director in general though (yet!). I didn't like Benny's Video though I liked what I saw of Cache (which, admittingly, I fell asleep during -- not the movie's fault -- and have yet to watch the rest).

Yeah, those creators are really brilliant. Really one of the most insane things ever aired on television. I like how every episode got progressively more alienating... like, they just kept trying to piss the audience off more and more. Really hilarious.

I've seen all Haneke's films and consider him to be one of the best filmmakers of our time.
Can't wait to see Das weiße Band.

atsonicpark 05.28.2009 01:21 PM

He's certainly interesting. I'll have to check out more...

Now two years later I finally saw it and I was surprised to see that it has really fuck all to do with the the Transformers I remember from my youth. The robots look like piles of scrap, Bumblebee is a Camaro now and Megatron is... what? On top of that, it is cheesy as fuck.

yes. it was suck ass

my favorite parts were when the army battalion was invoved, everything else, with shia le douche, and that girl who looked 33, and the extraneous family bullshit sucked ass.
I ahted the fight scenes because the hyper kinetic scattershot jitter cam actually made the transformers seem less enormous, less massive. basically, to ants we look like we are moving in slow motion but there is nothing they can do to stop us from squishing them. the same shoudl be true of transformers.

I bet SoundWave isn't even in it. He'd fold up into a cassette and kids would be like "....?"

nicfit 05.28.2009 03:15 PM

hd version!!

MellySingsDoom 05.28.2009 03:20 PM

Utter tosh, with a few diverting moments. Nowhere near as misanthropic as "Addio Africa" or as insightful as "Shocking Africa". Not one of the better Mondos by a long shot - Messrs Climati and Morra are hackmeisters par excellence.
