Well, not that it really matters, but it's actually my stepfather who has the great jazz collection. My real father actually sounds like he'd get along swimmingly with yours. Alcoholic, workaholic, psychologically abusive, and so on.

Still, he had me listening to the Beatles and Dylan before I even left the womb, and helped me meet Lou Reed once. So not all bad.

Bought this at about 10 p.m. last night even though it wasn't supposed to come out until today. It was pretty much the most exciting thing I've done all month, which is very sad indeed.

What will you do with the remains? Seems weird to display them, but disrespectful to throw them out.

Negativland is great and I saw a documentary about them once that made me totally re-evaluate multimedia samples and noise in music. Still probably wouldn't be inclined to hang on to those ashes though.

I'd probably just tape the baggie inside the jewel case and stick it with the other collector anomalies like the gummy head USBs.

Honestly, I don't have a plan for them. I agree it's a strange and weird perk, but the more I learn of Negativland, it sort of fits. I was amazed I could receive this "final bundle" for less than $15......also, it was set up to where everyone who pre-ordered received their remains on Halloween......talk about marketing �� ��

Something I didn't receive, but some who ordered did......a audio cart with sounds recorded by Donald and he would use to perform "live" during his radio show. Most people receiving the carts will have no way to play them, but I had already started the ground work to have someone at KTRU use it.

Masterpiece.

It certainly is! I rediscovered her last year. I saw a video of a girl doing a cover of "On A Good Day" and BOOM! Couldn't stop listening, and still have to listen to at least parts of the albums every day since.
Musically and especially lyrically it gives me so much. I love how, at one hand, she can make you dwell into your sadness but, on the other hand, also give hope and comfort you in one and the same song.
I mean, "Go Long", holy shit.

First listen! Happening right now. May seem like no big deal to some, but to me it's significant. First time listening to a new Flaming Lips album in almost exactly 4 years (the Sgt. Pepper cover album does not count, nor does that thing with Miley Cyrus.)

Incidentally, this is the eleventh Flaming Lips album I've purchased on the day of its release over the past 22 years. :)
