FUCK YEAH ADAM, Giallos are my favorite kind of film as well. Horror is my favorite genre, slashers are my favorite sub-genre, and giallos are just artsy-fartsy, technically masterful slashers as far as I'm concerned - and what could be better!?!?!? No other type of film bleeds off of the screen like a giallo.

PS: I must now see all 3 of those films in your post. Hail Mary sounds awesome, and those are awesome screens from BTK and BABL. The only Bava I've seen so far has been The Black Cat.

And damn, Sonic Sphere... Meet the Spartans?? Sitting through 300 made me want to vomit enough. You're a brave soul.

SCREWED - what the flying fuck/10

Dr. Eugene Felikson 12.02.2010 05:57 AM

While re-working the Death Finger script into a feature length. Nothing like going back to an all-time favorite. I love this film so damn much, that I would shove my cock in it if I could. Nothing inspires me quite like this film.

9/10

This movie deserves to have more said of it than "Its not as good as Goodfellas"

atsonicpark 12.02.2010 05:23 PM

I think it's WAY better than Goodfellas. In fact, I don't really care for Goodfellas, but I think Casino is the last great Scorsese film, and was his first GREAT film since probably King of Comedy or Raging Bull.

junebug - 7/10

bartleby - 6/10

Count Mecha 12.02.2010 07:12 PM

Haha Bartleby, that movie is kind of hard to take.

Veda...what a biiiitch. Really a kind of predictable film. And Joan Crawford is far from my favorite actress. So it's kind of hard for me to be into a movie where she's the one holding it all together. But no, she was good in this. But damn, there are alot of assholes in this movie. Bert, Monte, Fay, Veda. Everyone was out to get her. Neat movie though, with some neat ideas about how devoted to a fault a mother can get, and what extremes that can take her to.

really? i didn't think much of it. it was way too violent. it's classic joe pesci though

Dr. Eugene Felikson 12.02.2010 10:22 PM

Casino wipes it's ass with Goodfellas' DVD sleeve. I've always felt that way.

Count Mecha 12.02.2010 11:07 PM

The only problem I really have with Casino is that it's a little too comparable to Goodfellas. Especially with Joe Pesci's characters. They're both kind of the same guy. That said, I enjoy both movies quite a bit, though I prefer Goodfellas.

atsonicpark 12.03.2010 04:52 AM

I just love Casino, it's classic Scorsese.. James Woods is amazing in it, for one.. for two, there's a good 30-45 minutes of DeNiro and Sharon Stone arguing, that is just amazing.. classic Scorsese right there... one of the best things he's ever filmed.

Detective Story - 5/10

DIRTY DUCK - 6/10

SIMPLE MEN - 9/10

atsonicpark 12.03.2010 06:16 AM

I want to say.. Hal Hartley is one of my favorite directors now. If you're into true independant, risktaking, brilliant auteur cinema, the kind that Giuseppe Andrews, Jon Jost, Damon Packard, and many others create (writing, directing, doing cinematography for, composing for... doing just about everything for!), this is your man. Dude is simply brilliant. Unique as hell, inventive, inspiring stuff. I'll be honest, I had a really hard time with starting my next 2 movies (I've got hours and hours of footage shot for both), but seeing Hal Hartley's stuff has really inspired me, and the idea of "indy cinema" is once again really really exciting to me. Despite being very independant, shot for cheap, his films look and sound REALLY good. He mainly seems to specialize in superdark comedies, like the brilliant films of Todd Solondz. However, he has that really dark absurdist tone with his films, like Jon Jost... very very serious but just so OUT THERE at times that it seems like it comes from another planet. He explores prostitution, abortion, murder, etc... and he's funny! All his stuff is on btjunkie, with seeders, so it's easy to find. OH, he's also a bit like an American Godard, and an American Aki Kaurismaki at times too.... but he's also very very original, it just helps to throw names around to get people excited.

Started this last night...

...finished today.

GRAPHIC SEXUAL HORROR

I don't rate docs, but I must say, THIS IS ONE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY! It's a documentary on a famous bondage porn site. One compelling little film, it's on btjunkie with a billion seeders so check it out if you're interested in why people continue do these insane bondage scenes where they're tortured, humiliated, and frequently almost killed (hint: money). Fascinating stuff, though can be a bit hard to stomach!

I agree that Casino is probably Scorsese's last great movie and Goodfella's probably the best he'd made since Raging Bull (although I think After Hours and Last Temptation are both great in their own way). I can't possibly agree that Casino is better than Goodfellas though. In Goodfellas, Scorsese manages to keep everything so tight. It's a huge movie but it feels on about the same scale as Mean Streets - which I think is about the perfect size for Scorsese. Casino just feels bloated to me. I'd have loved to have seen Michael Mann direct it. He's much better working at that scale, I think.

I love "After Hours". The cast was just down here (Tucson) for a screening at the local art cinema's little festival they have. I missed it unfortunately.

I really like christmas evil. I love how slow and methodical it is. Very cerebral and gritty and ugly at times. Also hilarious... doesn't he witness Santa eating ot hi mouth?... ... sorry. I'm sleeping. SANTA EATS OUT HIS MOM or something and that's what makes him a killer? So fucking weird. It's been a long time since I've seen it. But I am going to watch it this xmas, along with the yearly tradition of DEEP RED.

I'm a huge fucking Arab on Radar fan. I mean, they may even be the most listened to thing in my record collection. So this film is one of the most watched in my DVD collection. Even if you haven't heard any AoR, this is a great place to start. There is no gig like an Arab on Radar gig. Period. The live footage/insanity is fantastic, and the glimpses into AoR's off-stage life make me prefer putting this on before one of their records.

If you don't own it, and enjoy AoR, or any related projects, please, do yourself a favor and check it out. It's 3.99 on the threeoneg website currently with free fucking shipping.

I've been watching a lot of old Get Smart and True Blood.
