almost 67 million people, i think, voted for trump. SIXTY SEVEN MILLION. that’s about 8 new york cities worth of population, just full of trumpists. 8.
even of they lost by 4 million—it’s 67 million! consider the critical mass of those numbers, realize there’s nowhere else to put them, and tell me that we’re not ultimately FUCKED. |

There was no way we could have predicted that one, huh. |

I'm sure this is fake news, but apparently, at the Virtual G20, Trump skipped the pandemic meeting to go golfing, and during other meetings he was simultaneously tweeting about the rigged election.
Yeah. It has to be fake news. |

Detective Marty Hart : Can you see Texas up there on your high horse? What do you know about these people? Detective Rust Cohle : Just observation and deduction. I see a propensity for obesity. Poverty. A yen for fairy tales. Folks puttin' what few bucks they do have into a little wicker basket being passed around. I think it's safe to say nobody here's gonna be splitting the atom, Marty. Detective Marty Hart : You see, that. Your fucking attitude. Not everybody wants to sit alone in an empty room beating off to murder manuals. Some folks enjoy community. A common good. Detective Rust Cohle : Yeah, well if the common good's gotta make up fairy tales then it's not good for anybody. |

It looks like the most important people and greatest country of all time is getting the vaccine first.

I guess bbc news doesn't take the words of a Russian despot seriously. I can still get my utterly justifiable beyond any doubt xenophobic rant on though aye? |
Quote:
hahahha yeah, nobody believes him. and i enjoyed the rant just i don’t know which vaccine you meant. there’s pfizer, mrna, azn; and azn is closer to your supply lines (67% or 90% effective depending). we haven’t taken yours have we? |
It's the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, 95% effective apparently. The government has ordered 40 million treatments which need to be taken twice so that's enough for 20 million people. So, roughly just under a third of the population. Treatment starts next week.
|
oh i just read that your regulators approved it first lololol
now i get what you meant fine then— good luck with the mrna experiment, mutant! :D |

Review report Corman-Drosten et al. Eurosurveillance 2020 It basically questions the validity of the science behind the most commonly used COVID-19 tests, thus drawing into serious questiuon the reality of the infection statistics we're hearing. |
Due to the still pretty high infection rate, restaurants and businesses in the entertainment sector will remain closed in Austria until what looks to be at least January 7 - that includes gyms, for those that are physically inclined. Alpine cable railways however are allowed to open around December 24 already. And of course, churches are always exempt from any of the harsher measures.
There've been images of massive crowds lining up in front of the funicular last month (absolutely no distancing, whatsoever) and now it looks like the Conservative Party is once again trying to ensure that domestic ski-tourism is getting preferable treatment. I wonder if it might have something to do with quite a few of their politicians demonstrably being in that business. Apparently, the 'rona can't get you when you're lining up to go skiing. Welcome to Asstria. Sorry, needed to vent again. I'm all for being really careful and preventing exacerbating the already dire situation. But that should include being resolute in your measures and not dealing in preferable treatment towards stereotypical activities that still pose a risk and mostly just benefit specific parties. |

Bring on the drugs. Here's hoping to some side effects akin to some kind of permanent dopamine explosion. Pensioners will be treated first so it's all eyes on them. It's quite surrealistic that it's finally happening: I'm daydreaming of pubs and gigs and...pubs and gigs. What else was there before the pandemic again? |

The Australian fund is not $1,993 a month; that's total bullshit.
|
It's hard for me to do the precise math from here, given that I can't only consider the, let's say, "cheque" each Australian is getting as a relief from this disaster; elements like tax exemptions, if there are any, have to be factored in as well, and there's also the matter that we're talking about a federal country and not all regions may be implementing the same measures. What I can say with a degree of certainty, inasmuch as it's been published by several credible media outlets, is that the federal government passed legislation for a $1,500 per fortnight wage subsidy for eligible employers; fine print exists everywhere, though.
In any case, I bet my collection of Go-Between albums that the fucking pandemonium circumstances are considerably better for the average Australian than for the average Unitedstatesean. Or for the average mook in my own country, for that matter. |
Pretending that the graphic above is accurate for a moment.
According to https://www.worldometers.info/world-...ia-population/, Australia has 25,629,323 people of all ages. 25,629,323 * 1,993 = $51,079,234,760/mo total spending a month for relief. Pretend we've reached the 1 year mark of consistency with this number. Australian government has spent $612,950,817,120 for the year, for funding relief for EVERY citizen. According to just https://www.cnbc.com/2019/12/21/trum...ense-bill.html, Sitting POTUS authorized $738 billion for the US military alone. That said, according to the same population site listed above, the US has a population of 331,002,651 which is considerably larger, so if we were to try the same monthly, for a year, it'd cost 7,916,259,401,316 for the year. All hypothetical, but population differences do matter when comparing responses to issues, as well as other "normalized" systems. Australia already also has their own elevated taxes that pay for these things like their healthcare system, among others. |
Giuliani has it.
