Alright I'm not sure how popular/unpopular the band is outside of Pitchfork buuuuut.. I just listened to Sunset Rubdown's Random Spirit Lover, and couldn't really finish it.. like three tracks to go and I couldn't. It all sounds so samey and just eww. Total shit.

sunset rubdown are poo. wolf parade are poo. i haven't heard any other spencer krug bands, but i bet they're poo, too.

Dirty Projectors are one of the worst bands I've ever heard.

I saw sunset rubdown live once, and they were fucking terrible. It was part of some shitty festival. They were the worst band there, of like 15 bands...

I love Blackhearts, but never cared much for Runaways.

Live in Leipzig is my favourite of theirs. I like Deathcrush more than De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas though.

I've always preferred Paul Di'Anno to Bruce Dickenson. I think Iron Maiden's S/T is the best thing they did.

Unplugged is great also got me into the Meat Puppets which isn't a bad thing at all.

They're not as bad as I first thought... though, erm, still not great.

The quality of Mayhem record has been a bit up and down. But their last Ordo Ad Chao is pure genius! Totally fucked up in a good way.

In Utero..... hmm... Heart-Shaped Box is boring, Rape Me is probably their worst song, All Apologies is awful, Pennyroyal Tea is bland, Frances Farmer sucks except for the kick-ass riff in the middle, Tourette's is a throwaway.


The other half of songs is quite great though. I love love love Scentless Apprentice and Radio Friendly Unit Shifter. Serve the Servants, Very Ape, and Dumb are quite good as well. And, oh yeah, Milk It.. Milk It is insane, even though it sounds quite awful compared to the songs it rips off/pays homage to/whatever (Melvins' "It's Shoved")...

i used to shy away from standard tuning, but ive almost completely gone back to it, or at least 50/50 with open tunings. i got sick of made up tunings.
its really not about the tuning, but the guitarist....
