if he wanna play Hendrix, at least he needs to take some guitar lessons.. cuz his guitar "solo" on Rick Ross' song from two years ago was cringeworthy.

lol, it would be nice if they used some KRIT production and did a throwback album.. nah, i'm forgetting it's OutKast. they'll probably do something that's ahead of our time.

It could just not happen (no shoes) but if it does, the possibilities and variables are endless. Hell, Rodman could walk into an antique store and buy 1920's flapper shoes for a chick with huge ass feet. Similarly, OutKast could make anything. The decision is theirs in the end.

I kinda hope Andre boosts up his solo career and opts out of the horrible idea that is the Hendrix bio-pic.

i would love to see a new OutKast album before an Andre solo. clearly Andre is the better rapper.. but Big really brings the best out of him, and they have such an awesome chemistry together. of course an Andre solo just NEEDS to happen someday though.

louder 01.11.2014 11:11 AM

Scarface said that KRIT is his fav new rapper.

Severian 01.13.2014 08:06 AM

Ok, someone tell me more about KRIT. Like I said, I blew myself out on King Remembered in Time early on, and while I still love it, the local record store has nothing else of his to offer.

So, yeah. Let's have it.

Severian 01.13.2014 08:30 AM

By the way, did we all just *miss* these two brilliant 2013 albums that I'm just getting around to hearing last week?

(yeah, Canibus is a douche-chill with a capital C, but this Cruel Summer/Self Made-esque collaborative lp is fucking ill.

and...

How is it that I didn't hear this until I saw it and bought it and listened to it? I can't in good conscience redo my top 10 list, but I want to. Let's try to be more on point about making sure everyone hears everything good in 2014.

I think this should turn into more of a "Louder's (Hip Hop) Book Club" kind of thread.

lol.

louder 01.13.2014 10:05 AM

Krit is like if Southernplayalistic-era Kast and UGK had a child.

"Return of 4Eva" is his masterpiece.. however, "4eva N A Day" has more of an intimate late-night feeling which makes it just as essential.

both are free, so why not just download them? ;)

Cappadonna's verse on Winter Warz is so classic.

noisereductions 01.13.2014 06:46 PM

Cappadonna is underrated for sure.

Severian 01.13.2014 07:01 PM

Well, Capadonna's totally on Almight: 2nd Coming, so...

I always thought Canibus was such a fuck. I see pics of him with big guns and shit, looking like a goddamn psychopath, and his cover-art is the very definition of the word "whack." BUT- this Almighty shit kills.

I can't even pick his voice out of the myriad rappers who guest-spot on the disc, so I don't really know what, if anything, he did in terms of artistic arrangement, but it's heavy on Wu-collective members and late '90's heavy hitters, and the production is goddamn great.

but somehow I doubt, especially after reading his bio on wiki and spotify, that Canibus has the drive, the money, or the respect to headline a project like this, which features far better rappers than he has the right to be associated with.

Canibus is just totally misunderstood in a weird way, but that shit with Priest and Kurupt is good shit. Cappadonna is definitely underrated, but its sort of his gig, he stayed way out of the spotlight even on tracks, more of a great glue guy. He is the Steve Kerr of rap music. I also think Inspectah Deck was totally underrated and Method Mad was totally OVER-RATED. Black Knights and Northstar was one of my favorite wu affiliates aside from Killah Priest.

noisereductions 01.13.2014 10:07 PM

you guys are intriguing me on Canibus. I always assumed he sucked. He always seemed at the receiving end of good beef.

Kurupt is awesome btw.

Initially I also always thought shit about Canibus, but then when The Horsemen project came out, I figured Kurupt and Killah Priest's vouch was as good as any! Kurupt is interesting, he really can't rap very well by technical standards, but he compensates with weird sounds and cadence. It works. I dig like everything Kurupt ever made, and we totally adopted him and Tupac in Los Angeles. In the past ten years it would seem that we've also adopted Killah Priest, he been living here for years and essentially only raps local.

"i love you like i love my dick size". LOL.

Ghost really made OB4CL what it is. one of the best performances on a rap album EVER.

he has improved so much after 36 Chambers. even though his verse on Can It All Be So Simple was already great.

louder 01.14.2014 02:44 PM

Rae is my fav rapper on 36 Chambers though.. followed by Deck and GZA.

louder 01.14.2014 08:39 PM

Canibus is a good rapper from a technical standpoint.. it's just that i have no idea what he's saying 90% of the time. as much as i hate that word, he's the definition of "boring".

GQ: People love the album and a lot has been written about it. Has anyone misconstrued parts of it?
Kendrick Lamar: A few people think that these stories are just different events throughout my whole life. That story is just one day, one full day. Some things that always happened throughout the days and throughout the weeks, but that was just one particular day that really turned my whole life around and I understood what I should be doing is something positive, which is music right now. They don't know me yet. They might think they know me, but they don't.

praying for a new Kendrick album this year.

noisereductions 01.24.2014 09:25 PM

srsly, Rocky is my fav right now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DS4HgRZAADU

Y'all bumping that new MC Tree? Its good yo. Should be more!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWTafSO4fgU

"..First you gotta grind, then you let em know, when they see ya shine, everybody be like whoa.."

I mean seriously, Tree has to be the most mature rapper I've ever heard in my life, dude raps about people's real lives, and not in in a contrived or purely artistic way, just authentic. I really hope he gets big yo.
