that's clever editing |
Just downloaded Free Kitten's Unboxed off of Finding Nobody. What can I say? It's ace. Looking forward to the new one.
Not a big Free Kitten fan. Vaginas should be playing sappy blues music.
This release is listed now in the EP newsletter as "coming soon"...
When I first saw this thread, I got out my old "Sentimental Education" cd to listen to while I smoked my bedtime joint. I had never really been that big of a fan, but the music just blew me away this time. First of all, the title track is *not* just aimless rambling (as I had previously thought), and I guess I had never listened to "Gaa" all the way through, but it was amazing (going from spiders crawling all over my body to relaxing on a tropical island). I can't wait for this next album!
Plus, I saw this thing on Youtube entitled "Grunge Pedal" that had Kim, Julie, Mark and Thurston basically just goofing around in someone's back yard. God, it made me wish I could be their friend :)
grunge pedal. thats a short film by dave markey right? its on the cut shorts dvd...
Yeah, that sounds right. It wasn't even *that* interesting, it was just really cool to see all those people hanging out together, goofing off. "What's *your* favorite setting, Kim?" "I like the Melvins sound. You know, face down, butt all the way up..." "OH MAN!..."
let's not all forget the AWESOME 'teenie weenie boppie' video.

to clarify this early misconception, the front page now includes Mark as a part of the recording process FREE KITTEN REUNITE Free Kitten, consisting of Kim plus Julie Cafritz, Yoshimi, and Mark Ibold, have recorded a brand new studio album which is going to be released soon on Ecstatic Peace! Records. There are rumors that a tour by the reunited band is to follow the release of the album. |
This amazing record is already recorded and mixed and is now being mastered for a spring release on Ecstatic Peace but Mark is not on it I'm afraid.

"http://www.trapperjennmd.org--a blog from the woman whose boyfriend is that guy who's always up at the front row taking 80-100 shots on his digital camera. "
chabib? |
The album has some really well-crafted songs as well as some more experimental stuff. A very realized "album" to be sure that they took their time writing and recording. Not even sure I would characterize ANY of it as "noise" honestly as even the looser stuff has a distinct structure. Regardless, fans of the band will love it.
Gigging is another story since getting them together is expensive and quite the scheduling challenge these days. One step at a time... |
