Ever hear the Beware of Abkco boot? Mostly All Things Must Pass demos, or very un-produced versions of those songs. Terrible! Somebody gave me a CDR copy thinking I'd appreciate the Spector-less production but it only proved to me how good ATMP is because of the production.

I love that album, but their music does go south after that album. |
Some people will argue that the album is a dud either way, but Bob Dylan's Empire Burlesque gets the nod for me. There are some great songs on there that could have come out better without the awful eighties production : /
|
if by less produced you mean not produced or recorded at all then the list is far far to big.......
but moster magnet dope to infinity i think is a bit overly done |
Generation Terrorists by Manic Street Preachers. Too glossy and 'big'-sounding.
|
First one that came to mind was The Replacements - Tim. Although I still love it.
Husker Du - Warehouse.... Cheap Trick - In Color Saint Vitus - Born Too Late (Maybe it just suffers from bad production? still rules though) Ramones - Road To Ruin (Mainly "She's the One" which could have been one of the best Ramones songs if it had the energy and sound of the first album) Dirtbombs latest one... |
Well... Sorry, but... MURRAY STREET is overproduced in my opinion.
|
Really? I don't think it's a particularly great sounding album, but I wouldn't say it's overproduced. Not any more so than Dirty with its glossy guitars and drum samples (!)...
|
The Ramones 80's catalog.
Great songs kept on poking their heads up on those albums only to be pushed back down by crap production. |
This thread's not about "production you don't like", it's about "Albums that are overproduced."
I guess it's kind of turned into "production you don't like" though. |
where's the drum sample in Dirty?

You're eight, this thread is becoming a " production you don't like" thread. Sorry, I plaid guilty. |
I can think of a few albums that would have benefited us by not being produced at all.
Everything by Barry Manilow for example. Imagine how much better the world would seem if Barry Manilow's records had never been produced. :) |
Read any article on "Dirty"; the one on here on the mustang site or the wikipedia article, and it mentions that drum samples were added in addition to Steve's playing to give the drums more "oomph".

wow, never knew that. Never thought Steve would need any help either, still Vigg has sold lots of records so he must know best eh? (no) |
Hmm. I like the production on Dirty. Again, it seems appropriate for the material. I think Vigg's production was perfect for some of that post-grunge stuff from that era.
|
wikipedia has nothing about any "samples" on the drums at all, on Dirty.
the mustang saite quotes steve. I wonder which songs? |
I'd say 100% and Drunken Butterfly.
but it's just speculations. |

Oh duh at me, like the Phil Spector Ramones shit... I guess I misread what you wrote!
