And the fact my friends have no taste is why we're splitting up. They wanted to do fucking Eagles songs. !! Eagles songs!!!
I kept digging into the Stones and Velvets catalog and all they wanted to do was "Take it Easy." What was I thinking!!!! |

Hahaha. Yeah, I have a friend who recorded a tape called "Psychadelic Mind Soup" by his one man band, The Zoidbergs. I'm going to make a myspace for it soon. |
God, old people and their mid-life crisis. Hope I never grow old.
|
If you never grow old, you'll never live long and have like you know, lots of days to enjoy. Um, that's sad, man.
By the way, Pete Townsend later said that he wrote that line to fit the rhyme, not because he really believed it. |
Oh, I feel sorry for you, man. Eagles ? Oh, shit !!
How did you meet those guys ? |

Well, pass along any lessons learned to me, please. I plan on this being my retirement funds, ya know? |

DOn't feel sorry for me. Feel sorry for them. Acquaintances through odd work relationships and such. Not really friends. They said they were into "good rock." I only met talked with them in a bar a few times before this. Come to think of it, the conversation always did sort of hit this lull when I started talking about Velvet Underground. |
Hey, and they only drink Natural Light. I guess that should have been my first clue. Duh.
|
I don't know this drink. It looks to be... beuh... disgusting.

You are so old, you caught that reference. P.S. I am kidding, I still want to be your slave. |
Guh-rage

Nah, you are so terribly wrong, buddy. The Coffin Stones is so good that I would use it myself, were I in a band. |
I like Rob's suggestion. Guh-rage.
I'll post the song list we recorded in a while. You might find it amusing. Includes not only Take It Easy but also a 3-minute puttering version of Heroin, pretty good stabs at Sister Morphine and Wild Horses (they actually knew those two!!), an okay Life During Wartime, pretty good The Modern World (by the Modern Lovers), I Can't Explain, Sweet Jane, and Personality Crisis. (this one rocked the most). Oh, also a 1:07 version of Sister Ray. Most of these I had to teach them but they caught on quick enough, though since I was the only one who knew the lyrics, the vocals are a little weak. |
All is not lost, though. Last night I ran into some amateur musicians who totally are into the Stooges, Velvet Underground, and Sonic Youth! They're about 20 years my junior, but they seem real easy going and have an open mind about things. And they like good beer. We might get together to see how we sound. The only thing is, of the two guitar players (me and this girl), neither one of us is an acceptable lead player.

Pfft. I really think "lead playing" is overrated. Go for the anti-solo. |
