you dont need to be original if youre unique

Will there ever be another musical genre invented? You know, not "freak folk" or some other bullshit title, I'm talking a real honest-to-god new genre.

Personally, I don't see how anything 100% new possible anymore.

If it has distorted guitars: rock/metal

If it has cacophonious (sp?) horns: free jazz

Synthesizers: electronica

Found objects/studio manipulation: about every avant-garde or experimental artist since the dawn of recorded music

The trick is to create something recognizably your own within the parameters that have already been established.

like I said, no one sees the new until it slaps them in the face, and then it is ussually ridiculed.

originality abounds.

What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.

Is there anything of which one can say,
"Look! This is something new"?
It was here already, long ago;
