I'm very sorry to say, these guys are too old and tired already. They just don't have it in themselves anymore. I saw the Delta Machine tour two nights ago.

Black Celebration and Martin doing a piano version of, But Not Tonight are now two of my all time favorite live DM moments.

However, I must agree the show did lack a little something. "Gimmicky" is a word that comes to mind.

Other than the new songs, the set list was all over the place and there really wasn't a flow to the show.

Happy to have seen this tour, but not near as good as seeing them some two years ago!

Fuck depeche mode. Dudes suck. There I said it.

Strange confession: Now and then, upon no discernible pretext, I wake up with the pop masterpiece "Everything Counts in Large Amounts" in my head, and usually thereafter I think of Bytor Peltor's enthusiasm for DM.

^^truth be told, I've been remembered for far worse things, so I'll gladly be connected to a group such as DM......but dang you, now I have that song stuck in my head ��

I just finished watching, Depeche Mode Fandom......now available for streaming.

It’s infectious how this band has touched so many around the world......all of this footage is before social media and the internet!

I lost all of my DM in the flood. Guessing I had around thirty 12” remixes, many containing instrumentals and B-sides that don’t appear on the albums.

Anyone here still listening to them?

Revisiting the 80s stuff now, and discounting A Broken Frame as an album too trifling (aside from its beautiful cover art), it seems that Black Celebration has not aged as well as I thought it would. Also, as a record, 101 is terrible. As a movie, it's pretty fun. And I was actually there at the Rose Bowl show! I was about 100 rows back surrounded by screaming girls. My older cousins took me along, figuring I'd be so stoked. But just a few weeks before, I had seen my very first live show....a backyard pool-party event with Savage Republic which was so sublime and incredible. I was really excited that Wire opened the Rose Bowl show, but no one seemed to care. It didn't matter that Wire were only playing songs from their last two (pretty bad) albums and nothing from the great first three albums...I was still bummed that no one seemed to show any respect. This may have contributed as much as anything to my Northern California supremacist attitude about Angelenos.

It's funny how I never actually paid attention to their lyrics when I used to be a fan of theirs - might be because of the fact that I didn't understand any English back in those days, so I thought they were singing about something very deep and mysterious.

But then I started understanding the lyrical content and felt so embarrassed that most of the lyrics is just super-laughable rhyming like: 'come on and lay with me, come on and lie to me, tell me you love me ...'
like, come on.

Depeche Mode: The Podcast

I just recently learned of this podcast that has been around since June 2019. The host, a morning radio DJ is a bit annoying, but several say it gets better. I’m determined to listen to the first five episodes before resorting to cherry picking, but I might not make it.

In the first episode, the host mentions he has seen DM 32 times.
