The White Stripes were an ingenious band, and one if not the best example of cohesive and effective "branding" in music history. They were better live than any band has the right to be.

I also can't quite wrap my mind around how awesome a guitarist Jack White is.

Also.... some asshole at pitchforkmedia.com said, in 02, that the BLACK KEYS were better at playing the blues, and shamed the Stripes. The Keys, he said, delivered TRUE "delta" blues, while the Stripes were just some "mid-western rich-kid interpretation" of it.
