I just bought ES: Morrowind (it was dirt cheap and I can't afford oblivion). God damnit I'm hooked on it despite the numerous stupidities in the game.

http://www.publicenemy.com/index.php...page2&item=157
Grandmaster Flash and Public Enemy have been hired to create original tracks for Atari's new videogame, Driver: Parallel Lines.

Serving as the sequel to Driver, the videogame is set in two different eras - 1978 and the present - and will feature music that represents each time period.

"The right in-game music can transform a gaming experience from great to unforgettable and the tracks we have picked for Driver: Parallel Lines will literally keep players in the cars just to hear what the next tune is" said Atari Europe's marketing director Cyril Voiron.

In addition to new material by PE and Flash, Atari has licensed music by The Roots, David Bowie, WAR, Parliamnet Funkadelic, Marvin Gaye, Average White Band, and more.

The only driver game I have ever played is 3. And it was god awful.

acousticrock87 05.27.2006 06:55 PM

I played one of the Driver games, don't remember which. It's not so much that the game sucked, as it is I sucked at the game. I played at a friend's house for about 2 minutes and decided it wasn't worth it.

I've put nearly 200 hours into Morrowind. That game wasted a year of my life.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 05.27.2006 08:59 PM

Any one ever played Resident Evil 4?
I just started playing a few days ago. Got maybe 8-10 hours on it so far and I dont have that much left. Its a scary fuckin' game though, damn!

acousticrock87 05.27.2006 09:20 PM

I watched a friend play through it. It looks scary, but it's really hard to judge without playing. Definitely looks fun, though.

I watched someone play Fatal Frame and couldn't understand why he was so scared. Then I played it and it was the scariest experience of my life.

That game is terrifying. I want to play it again...

umjammer atomsk 05.27.2006 09:54 PM

I picked up re4 as soon as i got my gamecube, being the avid re fan that i am, and I loved it too death. Then I got really pissed and hated it. But now I just like it a lot. If you're a fan of the series you'll know what I mean.

Gameplay=un-fucking-believably fun
Story, Characters, Dialogue=utter shit

And as for fatal frame, I've played the first one and i have to say that if you're just looking for chills and thrills you can do no better. You can really see how modern asian horror cinema influenced the franchise.

I really want to pick up the other ones; I've read that crimson butterfly surpasses the first and that the tormented is just damn good.

Yes, we do need to play some halo.
But I'm having some xbox live problems, something with the fucking credit card...

And I still have to connect that fucking shit to the Xbox 360.

krastian 08.06.2006 04:40 PM

Good call on bringing this thread back up.

I've been playing a lot of this and working on my franchise......getting antsy for football season.

I miss these games being 20 bucks.

Trasher02 08.06.2006 04:43 PM

I've been hooked on this game.
It only costed 25€.

Massenvernichtungswaffen 08.06.2006 04:51 PM

Yea Morrowind is fucking intense. I played three different characters and did practically every mission possible... except for house hlaalu. they're just annoying. I"m playing Oblivion now and it's so intimidating.

I used to hate first person RPGs until they put out Morrowind. I love how you can just free roam all over the place and tomb raid and all that other fancy shit like enchanting.. fun stuff.

I'm hoping Rockstar puts out a new GTA soon. San Andreas was good, but a new one wouldn't hurt.

krastian 08.06.2006 04:55 PM

That ping pong game looks pretty cool.....I got hooked on Virtua Tennis when I was a freshmen in college living in the dorms. We'd just take bong rips in my bathroom, drink, and play video games like that and Soul Caliber in between classes.....college was pretty great considering how bad it sucked. That tennis game actually got me in to tennis and now I think it's pretty awesome.

Alex's Trip 08.06.2006 04:59 PM

Geometry Wars is fun

krastian 08.06.2006 05:04 PM

That looks pretty wild....never played it.

cosmokramer 08.06.2006 05:59 PM

i fuckin love that game...got the rom :) maybe ill go play it...

Phlegmscope 08.06.2006 06:21 PM

I just dug out a dusted copy of Interstate '76. It doesn't work very well on newer PCs as it was released in '97, but back then we played the shit out of it. The game had surprisingly good funk soundtrack too.

krastian 11.01.2007 01:02 PM

I've been on a pretty big Excitebike binge lately.......fucking right.

that was great!!
I had just the demo and played that single level a thousand times.

nicfit 11.01.2007 01:36 PM

well, back to the 21st century (but old games still have the best "playability" ever), bioshock is really nice, a good variation of usually quite boring (except for half life) FPS. Really cool game with many "twists".

finding nobody 11.01.2007 03:17 PM

God bless you for bumpin this thread.
I've been playing almost everyday, while smoking bud, with my buds

h8kurdt 11.01.2007 03:37 PM

Aah the singing turd. Hehe immature but great all the same. The ending is just depressing brilliance.

Right now I'm playing res evil 4. As good as ever is all I can say although that damn slag of a girl pisses me off.

ZEROpumpkins 11.02.2007 02:36 AM

I play counterstrike every night and have so for the past 2 years. I am a pro at Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Two and my favourite console is the SNES. Sonic 3 is my favourite game of that era, followed by Donkey Kong 2.

That's the spirit.

!@#$%! 11.02.2007 11:00 AM

my problem with video games is that after a short while they feel like a part-time job where one doesn't get paid. sort of like don't i have anything better to learn? things to "accomplish" in real life?

but maybe that's just me. or is there anything that's not like that?

krastian 11.02.2007 11:50 AM

I agree, if you play video games all the time then prob. need some serious help.....I enjoy playing them every once in awhile just to mix it up really.

nicfit 11.02.2007 12:02 PM

I think games are like others screen-related stuff (tv shows etc.etc.), as long as you play coz you're "entertained" and have fun and not just becuz you're "addicted" it's a pretty nice way to spend some free time imo. Games can be fun, and more than that if they are REALLY good games. Playing micro machines 2 in 4 people is crazy fun.
Playing Penumbra alone in the dark with headphones is scary.
Playing pes yelling at my brother next to me is relxing ha ha .

krastian 11.02.2007 12:05 PM

That Call of Duty 4 game looks insane.....I need to get a 360 eventually.

nicfit 11.02.2007 05:13 PM

call of duty 4 is for pc too, and I can't even imagine how hard/annoying can be using a joypad for that kind of games now that I'm used to mouse + keyb controls....

PAULYBEE2656 11.02.2007 07:42 PM

fifa 08! getting stuck into the ps2 version. also 50% through toca race driver 3.........

i am so not into being sad about games. i need quick fixes....

atsonicpark 11.02.2007 09:14 PM

i just beat tales of symphonia last week; i was level 75, i fought 2326 battles, and it took me 72 hours. still hasn't eclisped by xenogears record (level 80, 73 hours).

before that, i played through all 3 devil may cry games, played about 100 hours of disgaea 2 before i put it away, and i played dragon quest viii (2200 battles exactly; everyone level 70, took EXACTLY 60 hours). sometime in there, i finally beat raiden iii, r-type final, and ikaruga.

currently, i'm playing through skies of arcadia legends. then, i'll probably go back to disgaea 2. then, valkyrie profyle, star ocean: till the end of time, and vagrant story. hopefully, some day, i'll finally get around to earthbound and secret of mana-beating. and i still haven't even bought twilight princess yet, but i will. i also have all the metroid prime games sitting around that i need to beat. jesus.

atari 2600 07.15.2008 07:59 AM

...an item of possible interest in today's metafilter
super mario as a 3D shooter

krastian 07.15.2008 09:05 AM

Ha ha, I'd actually play that.

atari 2600 07.15.2008 09:49 AM

...but Excitebike would still be better...

krastian 07.15.2008 10:02 AM

True true.

mangajunky 07.15.2008 10:18 AM

I love RockStar Table Tennis- I want to play online but every time I do it's versus some stupid foul-mouthed child that needs a valium.
