Australia rocks! |
These old blokes in Australia are still making great music but the younger generation circling around Triple J, the major public radio station, are some of the worst bands you've ever heard
|
Graham Lewis (as Edvard Graham Lewis) - Alreet? (January 25)
Craig Finn - Always Been (April 4) |
Robert Poss & Opollo - OTAGO (available now for a name-your-price on Bandcamp)
|
Roger Miller (as Roger Clark Miller, so you don't confuse him with the king of the road, I guess...) - Curiosity For Solo Electric Guitar Ensemble (February 28)
|
The new Mogwai record isn't that great, it's an exercise in competent autopilot more so than anything. The most rewarding part was learning what new song Stuart played when I saw him solo.

cool Thanks! I love Eric's drumming. Just litened to this and it didn't do much with me (as well as their previous album collab), but perhaps you need to be in a specific mood that I'm lacking right now ;) Anyways. Don't think this one was specifically mentioned yet, but I bought it and I am anticipating to listen to it. again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again! The Cure Songs Of A Live World : Troxy London MMXXIV It's basically this concert, but only the songs from the new album (hint: there's a double disc version that has the live album and the studio album) |
That new Cure album was so much better than it had any business being.I wrote them off a long time ago for quality new stuff (or at least stuff I personally found interesting), but always appreciated their continued existence. That last album proved me wrong.

Tune-Yards? Nice! |
I guess they're mentioned already on this thread, but it's impossible o search for them. And it's now announced officially, so there you go! copy/paste from their newsleter:
THE EX - NEW ALBUM! 'If Your Mirror Breaks' YES!! The new The Ex album is coming out very soon! Presented during a six-day Release Tour in April. Ten new songs, recorded in December 2024 at Schenkstudio in Amsterdam. Mixed by The Ex and mastered by Bob Weston in Chicago. And, of course, released on our own Ex Records! The album is dedicated to Steve Albini. More details at: https://exmailorder.nl/shop/ It's already up for pre-order on their site, not (yet?) on their bandcamp |
Looking forward to the these:
new Tori Kudo 2LP, Purple Trap (i.e. Haino, Laswell, Ali), Mud Nightingale (Sick Llama related) and a couple of new releases from Another Timbre. |

Not really familiar with these but you tend to have kickass taste so I’ll have to be on the lookout. |
The new DARKSIDE album is, once again, excellent. It seems they can do no wrong. I wish Nicolas Jaar would drop a new Against All Logic record — then we’d be in business.
The new Panda Bear is pretty good so far. I’m enjoying Horsegirl’s new one too. And all the Boldy James albums that come out seemingly on a bi-monthly basis. |
Robert Forster - Strawberries (May 23)
Myra Melford (with Michael Formanek and Ches Smith) - Myra Melford Splash (March 28) |
Kara-Lis Coverdale - From Where You Came (May 9, and not a moment too soon! :))
