By the way, I think zeropumpkins loves you.

Why, because I'm a SS fanboy?

Anyway I think you're just being a prick bashing a board members band just to stir up an argument where there shouldn't be one.

atsonicpark 02.01.2008 07:17 AM

Don't worry, zeropumpkins, he isn't as important as we are.

We do have a higher post count afterall!

Crumb's Crunchy Delights 02.01.2008 09:03 AM

what's with all the negative vibes?

we all have different tastes. there's no good or bad, just different tastes.

so stop with all the music bitching people.

Crumb's Crunchy Delights 02.01.2008 09:03 AM

Scissor Shock

atsonicpark 02.01.2008 05:52 PM

Okay.

i agree, i hate the red hot chilli peppers
and THE FUCKING SMASHING PUMPKINS

ZEROpumpkins 02.06.2008 02:24 AM

I've come to the conclusion that Crumb's Crunchy Delights is just saying things in order to start arguments. Isn't that the definition of a troll?

Yeah Peppers and Pumpkins suck.

Or maybe the person really believes what they are posting?

If he/she doesn't really mean what they are saying, then it's no different to the people on here who claim to love Scissor Shock when they're only trying to sound cool by claiming to like something that's 'weird'.

Cantankerous 02.06.2008 03:34 AM

i have a problem with people who try to be weird intentionally. these people don't think for themselves. people who are actually "weird", which is a subjective quality,
a) don't go and parade their weirdness around like a twat
b) often times don't realise that they are, indeed, weirdos, because their behaviour or tastes or whatever you like are very normal for them. i myself am probably a candidate for weirdness, maybe because i don't think in the accepted fashion (no, i actually think for myself!) but i don't know if i am, i think i'm pretty normal if anything.

Norma J 02.06.2008 04:10 AM

If the Beatles were a boy band, would that affect you?

Death & the Maiden 02.06.2008 04:21 AM

I don't think The Beatles were manufactured like a boy band. I thought they were doing their own thing, which influenced many musicians.

If you've seen some of his other posts you might understand what I mean.

I thought Radiohead are the band that most of the young indie wannabes keep adoring, though it does't properly fit into this thread, since this band is not quite clearly shit.

Oh, what a useless post. My posting style went downhill in the last couple of months.

sonicl 02.06.2008 05:39 AM

Don't worry. The whole board has been on a bit of a slope for the last couple of months.

You just have to learn to ride it.

Yes.

Regarding their "clean image" as opposed to - for instance - the Rolling Stones I think it's bullshit, with what happened backstage with the drugs and groupies they were no angels. EDIT: I was thinking specifically about their Hamburg period when they took lots of speed to keep themselves awake and gladly "benefited" from the prostitutes, I don't think that their behaviour changed that much afterwards.

Cantankerous 02.06.2008 07:27 AM

morrissey solo is pretty shit
little kids who wear converse and blazers and corduroy pants seem to like him

_slavo_ 02.06.2008 07:56 AM

I somehow remember ZEROpumpkins telling you to choke on a massive dick.

Cantankerous 02.06.2008 08:29 AM

ehhhhhhmmmmm
bands that are liked solely for their camp value

Yes, anyway I think the decline started when we lost Hip Priest's very good threads.

_slavo_ 02.06.2008 11:22 AM

Hip Priest and Fishmonkey and Pookie, to be more exact. And jon boy. Jon boy for sure.

RdTv 02.06.2008 11:58 AM

here's some bands that fit the criteria of this thread:
Rooney
We Are Scientists
Keane
Bloc Party
Arcade Fire
Battles
RHCP - post Blood,Sugar,Sex Magic...maybe One Hot Minute
Smashing Pumpkins - post Gish, and Mission to Mars EP
The Strokes
ehhh....I'm done for now

Torn Curtain 02.06.2008 12:08 PM

I agree on Bloc Party.

im confused.... didnt you praise to allah, buddha, hari and any other deity that will listen that there are no crap glam bands on another thread and strongly disagreed with anyone who didnt agree?..... surely they are high in ......... erm................camp value!

as for the battles bashers.... man, stop being so trendy... just because a band became successful that doesnt mean that you have to hate them to retain indie street cred! battles are a fantastic band.... and i am not a kid!!!!

more bands to the list
razorfuckingshite- probably said that!
melvins-- i agree, dont see the appeal
isis, again, dont get it
gogol bordello, sorry, i have the album and its shit, even with the novelty factor put into the equation.
lightspeed champion... bollocks trendy nme styled newwave country muck!
that band thati couldnt even be arsed thinking of their name.
suede, mind you the kids have grown up by now......
rancid
bad religion
nofx
pearl jaaaammmmmmbbbbbbe

atsonicpark 02.07.2008 11:58 AM

The first Melvins and Bad Religion albums are amazing. Isis was pretty consistent until a few albums ago. Everything else you mentioned is awful though.

Pauly, correct me if I'm wrong, and you may have said it on this thread elsewhere, but don't you hate Neurosis? I think that style of music just isn't your thing, man...

uhler 02.07.2008 04:31 PM

I think we should ask if young people like Sonic Youth.

funny - when i was about 22, i saw SY at roseland with my boyfriend and we commented how we were the oldest people there, which was odd considering the band was twice our age. when we came out and saw all the parents waiting for their kids, just to be mean, my boyfriend turned to me in a very concerned voice and said "there was so much drugs in there." one mom nearby just gave her husband this look like "you see!"

PAULYBEE2656 02.09.2008 05:49 AM

yeah, neurosis... i dont get it and that kind of erm, "style" doesnt cut it with me. its like watching something like vh1 on heavy metal and an interview with dave lee roth comes on... im like "thats not fucking heavy metal, ill show you fucking heavy metal" sorry... im not sure what i mean....

yeah, i dont like neurosis.....

atsonicpark 02.09.2008 07:57 AM

Really surprising.

Neurosis are one of the best bands around. Not something I want to listen to all the time, but when I actually listen to them, I'm surprised at how damn musical they are. They have a few trudging, boring "riff goes up riff goes down" parts on all their albums, but they actually have lots of interesting sounds going in within the structures of their songs, especially on the last few albums.

Ah well.

PAULYBEE2656 02.10.2008 05:18 AM

maybe i gotta take george michaels approach here and listen without prejustice again! ill try em again...................

Green Magnesium 02.13.2008 02:41 AM

The Beatles
The Smiths
Ramones
Nu-Metal
Emo/Screamo/Shouto/Saddo/etc.o
Freak Folk (is 99% god fucking awful... people who claim to like Joanna Newsom and Animal Collective are deluded) ...
the only good freak folk = Espers and Faun Fables (it's a sin that Dawn McCarthy isn't praised like that childlike lunatic Newsom)

I've noticed some Cat Power haters in this thread, and although I'm a fan I can absolutely see why some people loathe her. In her defense, I will say, at least she's not Joanna Newsom.

i agree with you on the last three genres. even though what people considered emo in the 90's is still pretty good to me. i still bring out the first get up kids and promise ring record sometimes. twelve hour turn are still one of the best bands to come out of the 90's to me.

anyway, nu-metal is the worst shit to me and it's not just the music (even though it's shit), but in florida redneck 16 year old meth freak dropouts still think that drowning pool is the shit and wearing jncos is the cool thing to do. also, i can't stand their blacken rotting teeth. all nu metal fans, i have come across, have that bad teeth look going on.
