The town in question was Horsham, in case you were wondering. Phoenix may know of it's namesake in Australia. Personally, I hate the bloody place, but then I'm from the South West of England. Born in Bristol, brought up in Newquay, Cornwall. :)

knox 01.15.2010 02:54 PM

I just hate heat.

Given the choice, I'd rather fry than freeze, but then Cornwall is the warmest part of the UK. If it snows there, it's gone within hours. :)

knox 01.15.2010 03:02 PM

It makes no sense because if its cold you can wrap up warm and if its hot it gets to a point theres nothing you can do about it.

Well, you can sit in the shade, take cold showers, skinny dip in rivers, etc. :D

knox 01.15.2010 03:09 PM

no, you can't. thatīll only make you feel better for 5 minutes afterwards.
what about work? can you work? can you walk for ten minutes then get into a sweaty train? fuck it. summer is for rich people.

You've won me over to your side, knox. Cold is preferable to heat. :)

Derek 01.15.2010 03:19 PM

Fuck the summer.

Yeh it was super hot the other day /days. Even where i am was 40+, and the might time low didn't drop below 32. Damn global weather changes.

a fucking prequel? Mad Max isn't half as interesting without the radioactive fallout.

I only found out about it today. I've just done a quick google on it and discovered this. http://www.beyondhollywood.com/categ...ad-2009-movie/

ha ha in vancouver which is having the olympics in less than one month there is no snow whatsoever and its +9 and raining. they have closed the mountains two weeks early to try and preserve what little is left up there but they have lost over 1m of the white stuff in a few weeks. VANOC didnt fucking listen when people said it was a bad idea to have the olympics here.

knox 01.15.2010 08:32 PM

9C sounds pretty good tho.

jon boy 01.15.2010 08:34 PM

i dont mind it at all but for anyone coming here expecting winter forget it. more about that later. the olympics is so unpopular here its crazy, what they are doing to the city is pretty insane.

knox 01.15.2010 08:37 PM

personally, the olympics are a bore?

knox 01.15.2010 08:37 PM

i like the canadians and im glad they agree with me

Yeah, the olympics is a bore.

I for one love the Olympics. My favorite at the winter Olympics being bob sledding. Curling is cool but they ought to let them drink like they probably do in non-olympic games. Heck I'll even watch the figure skaters

Keeping It Simple 01.16.2010 02:00 PM

The only event I like is the Ice Hockey, and that's only because the players are thugs who beat the crap out of each other at every given opportunity, which makes for amusing viewing.

Keeping It Simple 01.17.2010 03:15 PM

I've just heard we've got more heavy snow on the way. It's gonna hit on Wednesday.

Phlegmscope 03.03.2010 10:20 AM

Okay, I take some of my words back. We've had lots of snow even by finnish standards, regionally more than in the previous couple of decades.
The railway system's been struggling lately because of the snow load in the tracks (although they've been dealing with it I guess, it's more about the lack of resources, than the weather). And now there's been talks about roofs collapsing under the weight of wet snow, if they can't clear it in time. Also some are predicting severe floods in the spring in southern finland.

despite that, this is just a proper winter you occasionally get up here. People have got used to the warmer and less snowy winters we've had in last few years. But how I miss the summer, god damnit.

However, I take great delight in the fact that you british would be completely fucked under similar circumstances.
