Such a shame!!! Are we going back to the times when cd had more tracks than vinyl? I was quite disappointed when I got Nomeansno "Why do they call me mr. happy" there wasn´t "Slowly melting" that was my favourite track on cd-version (I haven´t got still cd, my friend just loaned it before I got the vinyl). Well, I´m still going to buy only LP, maybe Cd later.

Pelle 02.03.2011 09:49 AM

Same here, Im only buying the LP for the moment, the CD can wait.. Ill download that 13 minute track when I want to hear it :)

Pelle 02.04.2011 10:40 AM

Booked a copy of the vinyl yesterday :D

washedupmachine 02.04.2011 11:43 AM

Won't u be able to hear that 13 min tune with the freedownload that comes with the LP?

Pelle 02.07.2011 11:45 AM

Only a few days left!! :)

washedupmachine: I fuckin hope so.. otherwise, Id just guess its no bigger deal than just buying the CD aswell.

SONIC GAIL 02.07.2011 11:55 AM

I quite liked what I've heard so far. It sounds more than it has for a long while like a band putting a bit more distance from the demands of an often obnoxius section of their fanbase and doing their own thing. Populist version of SY has never been that convincing anyway.

EvdWee 02.11.2011 04:40 AM

it is streaming right here: www.luisterpaal.nl

EvdWee 02.12.2011 07:01 AM

although i wanted to wait till i got the vinyl, i played the record just for one time.
now i find myself listening a second time because the first was so good.

i really love it. wish they had expanded some jams a little bit more.

Pelle 02.12.2011 09:52 AM

I just listened to the 13 minute track..fantastic!

Only a few days left now :D

hiland 02.12.2011 11:32 AM

LA peeps, I can highly recommend a trip to Amoeba.... CD & Vinyl mmiiightt be on sale already...

toxic johnny 02.12.2011 06:16 PM

*Sleeps soundly safe in the knowledge that his vinyl is on it's way*

Clyde Cat 02.13.2011 01:32 AM

I'm really liking the previews I've heard. Definately buying this on CD as soon as I can get my hands on it.

chris2159 02.13.2011 06:03 AM

I love the closing 13 minute track. Probably my favourite sonic youth track since the Sonic Nurse album. Interestingly the BBC review http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/6w5c states " – here with Jim O’Rourke aboard, albeit only for the closing Thème d’Alice –".

SonicBebs 02.13.2011 06:49 AM

cannot wait to hear them on piano's

and cannot wait to hear Jim back with them (or is the end track an old Jim Era recording?)

hiland 02.13.2011 01:20 PM

sticker & download card...

nicfit 02.13.2011 05:24 PM

Watch your ears and speakers while blasting dans les bois / m.rabier.

washedupmachine 02.13.2011 07:30 PM

I got a Bad Moon Rising sticker in my LP. So cool.

Pelle 02.14.2011 09:03 AM

Arrrhhh now im fyckin hype on this.

It will probably take me 7 years before my copy arrives :(

SONIC GAIL 02.14.2011 09:43 AM

Just ordered mine:)

tesla69 02.14.2011 11:20 AM

I think i found the last copy at Kims last evening, great record, the way I love SY - shimmering and instrumental

SonicBebs 02.14.2011 02:54 PM

went into my local HMV at lunch to pick this up. They had 3 copies coming in, and none of them turned up! Will try again tomorrow. grrr.

Chris Lawrence 02.15.2011 03:14 AM

haha, i've been avoiding this thread - this year my valentine was SYR9, just in time... but had to wait til after work to hear it, cuz i wanted to spin the vinyl... i was going to complain that jim's credit wasn't on the LP version then realized the CD indeed has an extra track...(which i haven't heard yet!)

otherwise, great stuff! the recurring D tunings almost make it a companion piece of sorts to 'the eternal' in a way i feel that 'made in usa' is a companion to 'EVOL'. sound quality is phenomenal.

hiland's scans don't indicate this, but the album art does indeed reveal whether or not mark plays on it...(if this is still in question)...

Mortte Jousimo 02.15.2011 04:13 AM

I should have my vinyl tomorrow, can´t wait....

spenno 02.15.2011 04:23 AM

Really, really loving this so far (and I was a bit underwhelmed by "The Eternal", so this is very welcome).

Any info on who recorded/mixed this? I felt like Agnello's production on Rather Ripped and The Eternal put a barrier between me really digging those records but this sounds magnificent so far, just like ol' times.

I dropped by and held it in my hands, but waiting for it to come in my multi-disc package from kung-fu with pre-orders of sister, bad moon, evol on colored vinyl...

I have a problem. I spend too much money at Amoeba and record stores in general. I just went to Record Collector on Melrose a while ago. OH MY GOD, if you're into folk and/or jazz it is a valhalla. lots of classical, didn't check for the avant-classics yet.

I think you said you work there, right? I've always wanted to go shopping there with a grocery-store size shopping cart.

I vote for free 10in. with the long bonus track. who seconds the motion?

EvdWee 02.15.2011 05:50 AM

did anyone from europe who pre-ordered it from kung-fu receive it yet? i can't wait.

My French sucks, but it looks like Aaron Mullan recorded it and mixed it with the band. Mastered by John Golden? I agree, it sounds incredible, and doesn't have that boxiness that the last couple LPs did.

SonicBebs 02.15.2011 03:35 PM

i haven't been this excited about a new album since sonic nurse
