Absolutely. See my post above. Welcome this generation's Hella. Hopefully they don't turn into Faith No More incarnate.

the singer/bass player of the people's temple looks like a young pete townshend.

St. Vincent - Strange mercy

EDIT: And I second Grouper - Alien oberver / Dream loss

batreleaser 09.14.2011 09:08 PM

i really like the records by the men, iceage, danny brown, circle of orborous and even the new cass mccombs. i have a soft spot for the new york folksy guitar hipster dudes (cass and mike bones). i can't listen to noise or free jazz anymore.

Bal 09.20.2011 05:42 AM

The War On Drugs - slave ambient - one of the best things this year for sure!
Joakim - nothing gold - a french guy with lots of analogue synths, making some deep, deep pop music. superb stuff!

E. Noisefield 09.20.2011 06:37 PM

I'm digging WU LYF quite a bit.

And the new Medicine Show release by Madlib.

And the new Yuck. The new Ganglians. But overall, I'm pretty wanty for some good new tunes.

roly porter (one half of vex'd) - aftertime
drone, electronica, orchestra...it's all here

E. Noisefield 10.13.2011 01:27 PM

Of course the Panda and Avey albums (wait, was Down There from this year?) are great.

But I'm still diggin' WU LYF, the new Wilco, Tyler, Iceage, Ganglians, and the new Jackie o motherfucker.

I think the new Tom Waits will be pretty fucking good. I mean, we've surely waited long enough for a real follow up to Real Gone. Big shoes to fill.

Regina sound lovely.:)

RdTv 11.15.2011 09:08 PM

I find myself listening to a lot of albums that came out early this year, I haven't been so keen on more recent releases.

So far:
"Asleep on the Floodplain" by Six Organs (album of the year for me)
"Totem Three" by Master Musicians of Bukkake
"Share The Joy" by Vivian Girls
"Daily Bread" by Hassan Mackey & Apollo Brown
"Honky Kong" by Apathy
"Greenberg EP" by Oh No, Alchemist and Rocc Marciano
"Apocalypse" by Bill Callahan
"Napa Asylum" by Sic Alps

I haven't liked a lot of the "usual" suspects (panda bear, wilco, mogwai etc..) but I also haven't listened to a lot of my usual suspects (insert random underground free jazz improv drone burned dissonance) so...we'll see how the year finishes out. Hard to believe its almost December.

TheDom 11.15.2011 11:20 PM

Dumbo Gets Mad - Elephants at the Door
Sic Alps - Napa Asylum
Beach Boys - SMiLE
Nicolas Jaar - Space Is Only Noise
Keiji Haino - Un autre chemin vers l'Ultime
Not The Spaces You Know, But Between Them
The Strokes - Angles
SYR 9
Spectre Folk - The Blackest Medicine, Vol. II

that's about it for me......

Kurt Vile & Deerhoof were the biggest let downs.
and the Yuck album was good for one listen & that's it....

auto-aim 11.16.2011 10:13 AM

Satanized - Technical Virginity

that's about it for new music that didn't blow I guess.

SpaceCadetHayden 11.22.2011 04:48 PM
