That's funny that you mention that because - believe it or not - I almost put that Grauzone song on mine.

Also, I admire the amount of time some of you people have put into it... mine was a bit of a lazy job.

o o o 01.24.2007 06:50 PM

cool, thanks a lot!

jon boy 01.24.2007 06:52 PM

haha, well, i can't remember exactly right now, but for all i know Eisbär might have ended up in my mix because of my decision not to include Malaria! as it was already used in one previous mix...

it's probably just that when you think of a certain genre like neue deutsche welle that certain songs come to mind. :)
(although grauzone were swiss i think)

o o o 01.24.2007 07:13 PM

yes, grauzone were swiss, and i was recently surprised to discover that stephan eicher was one of the band members... s. eicher was really well-known as a solo artist in the 90's (?) in france (and probably elsewhere, i don't know) and his music actually subject to derision by many people... altough i can't remember if his music then was really shit ot not. nothing like grauzone, in any case.

porkmarras 01.24.2007 07:26 PM

Your mix is so good it it is now on heavy rotation.

pokkeherrie 01.24.2007 07:26 PM

i didn't know that, nor did i know this song on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwMN-gkt0GM

first impression says nothing like grauzone indeed, more like patrick bruel, which is definitely not a good thing!

Bump!

jon boy 01.31.2007 06:38 AM

i need to get my ass into the mixes thread.

_slavo_ 01.31.2007 06:44 AM

I think the idea of this thread is great. I'd make it sticky if I could.

Thanks for a wonderful mix, porkmarras. My iPod is chanting with happiness.

nicfit 01.31.2007 07:09 AM

I.WANT.BROADBAND. I'm doing a "rock and rollish party muzic" thing, but I think it's a bit pointless to post my mixes without having the possibility to hear yours....I must work this thing out somehow ( I wish my friends with boadband were less lazy and more interested in new music... it's a pain in the ass to convince them dling some links, and I feel bad going to their place and start browsing with their pcs... I'm a sensitive guy, you know.)...I'm fucked.

Thanks _slavo_!Your mix is wonderful too and i've been listening to it on my bus journeys in the past week.I'd make it a sticky thread myself seen as all of us like to go on about our opinions about music etc etc and it would be a chance to hear what aural cloth we are all cut out from instead of boring the life out of other posters.Innit?

porkmarras 01.31.2007 07:53 AM

By the way,the track on my last mix by Year Of The Lips is myself playing while the show in the background is taken from Jeremy Kyle.Kill me now.

Innit.

o o o 02.01.2007 05:26 AM

dear porkmarras, i must say that your positive comments are much appreciated. as one can probably tell from my original post, i was unsure of the value of my mix or of how it would be received, so i'm really glad that you liked it.

yes! that was his big hit, now i remember. patrick bruel is indeed a good reference point, well done.

i think i've downloaded nearly all the mixes on this thread, but i cannot seem to find the time or occasion to listen to them (it doesn't help that i'm not often in front of my computer at home these days)... will do, though, i really want to.

porkmarras 02.09.2007 03:47 PM

I need new glasses. I thought this thread was "post your kidneys".

sarramkrop 03.29.2007 05:38 AM

This is really the wrong thread to post those, but do as you please.

Пятхъдесят Шест 03.29.2007 05:52 AM

Both of you should save your mixes for the Mix Tape swap.

Oh whats that? Wrong thread?

gmku 03.29.2007 08:35 AM

I could post my mixes in the mix tape swap thread, I guess. But I have no interest in a swap.

I am interested in reading other mix lists, though, and sharing mine, just not interested in trading tapes.

Sonic Youth - Incinerate

I made this for a girl I know and like. It's to get her into some decent music similar to my music tastes, so I'm breaking her in with some of the more easy to listen to bands in my collection. I decided to break up the mix with some of the incidental music from Made In USA that sticks to the same theme, so it gives it an all over kinda hidden theme. I kept the interludes anonymous to the girl as she hates Sonic Youth so I see this as sorta subliminally introducing her to Sonic Youth more fully. Though I snuck in Incinerate at the end as I feel this is the best song for a Sonic Youth 'newbie' to start on.
