Toilet & Bowels 03.20.2009 08:31 AM

i don't know, i guess the only way would be to call or email them, seated tickets would be lame. the forum is quite a large venue, much larger than anything the jesus lizard ever played before they split. it's the size of venue you would see SY in.

pokkeherrie 03.20.2009 08:36 AM

Like the Roundhouse you mean? That was about 3000 I think...
In Holland SY would be playing 1000-1500 capacity venues, but isn't Brixton Academy more towards 5000?

Anyway, I guess I'll email them. Thanks.

brixton is about 4.5 - 5 i think, the forum is about the same capaciity as the roundhouse, but i much prefer the forum.
last time tjl played london they played the garage which probably holds about 500 - 600

Can I be the 10th person to say that seeing Teenage Jesus live is OK but nowt special? I saw them at ATP last year, and, well, it wasn't much of a highlight for me, to be honest.

This Is Not Here 03.21.2009 03:28 AM

I'm still inclined to check them out though... I take it this embodiment of Teenage Jesus won't include Thurston Moore?

Toilet & Bowels 03.21.2009 06:01 AM

i saw them twice at atp and i thought they were the best thing there, steven o'malley tried to chat me up by telling me how awesome she was after her set too

MellySingsDoom 03.21.2009 06:47 AM

^^That's cool that you got to chat to Steven O'Malley, I must say. TINH - Yes, do go check them out - it is worth it, regardless of what I thought of them.

Toilet & Bowels 03.21.2009 11:07 AM

it wasn't really a chat, he was drunk and trying his hand, it was a bit awkward, i've got witnesses.

MellySingsDoom 03.21.2009 11:23 AM

^^^Good Lord, I didn't suspect O'Malley of swinging that way!

Okay- so I saw them last night, and wow, seriously one of the best gigs I have ever been too (Sadly no Thurston, though). This was how Teenage Jesus were supposed to be heard - fucking loud and so powerful, their pretty poor quality recorded material cannot match up to this experience.
So she played as Teenage Jesus, and couldn't have looked less happy to be there. She said at one point - "Welcome to the retro virus. You're all contagious" and then on finishing she shouted "that was THEN" and launched into the live premier of her new band Big Sexy Noise, which the crowd clearly thought was awesome. Great, great gig - in a grotty hell-hole of a venue, though it's not 1978 anymore, this was, I felt, the truest representation of what Teenage Jesus were about, albeit 30 years after their time.

PSYCHIC TV ( PTV3 )
Exclusive UK only date for Psychic TV!!

PTV3 comprises of Jess Steward on keyboards, drummer Morrison Edley aka Edward ODowd (also of Toilet Boys), guitarist David Max, Gyda Gash on bass guitar and Genesis Breyer P-Orridge - lead voices, noise bass guitar, electric violin (also of Throbbing Gristle and Thee Majesty).
Psychic TV was first born in 50 Beck Road, Hackney in 1982. Persuaded and encouraged by his cool friend guitarist Alex Fergusson of punk trailblazers Alternative TV, an initially reluctant Genesis P-Orridge returned to active duty inventing new music following his termination of Throbbing Gristle in 1981. Six months later the duo completed the nucleus of the new unit with ex-TG'er Peter Christopherson. By that time Genesis had already conceived, named and pioneered the genre "Industrial Music" with Throbbing Gristle. Along with the Velvet Underground, Throbbing Gristle is and remains one of the most influential rock groups of the last 30 years; if you haven't heard their music, you will certainly have listened to someone who has. In Throbbing Gristle, Genesis and company synthesized the influences and philosophies of Gen's close friends and collaborators, including Beat writer William S. Burroughs; Beat poet and painter Brion Gysin; psychedelic shaman Dr Timothy Leary; queer activist film maker Derek Jarman; and those of legendary occultist Austin Osman Spare, theorist John Cage and various seminal underground authors, thinkers, artists and film makers. The group "TG" produced some of the most unsettling and thought-provoking music of all time. Their pioneering "Industrial" sound and self-sufficient approach to record distribution has had a profound impact, becoming key elements of underground music production and distribution ever since (the definitive TG history Wreckers Of Civilisation by Simon Ford is still available, published by Black Dog Books, London).
Right from the outset, Psychic TV in turn made highly innovative and unflinchingly provocative music blending elements of psychedelia and dance with Industrial sounds (named "HYPERDELIC" by Genesis).
