i think an infrastructure plan would be a better and more targeted way to stimulate the economy than the current fed manipulations, and it's something that most would agree on, provided enough pork goes to each state.

then there'd be some adjustment on taxes (match capital gains with income bracket?), new regulation (especially tech), a new supreme to replace breyer, and a bit of horse trading on climate. criminal justice reform. obamacare tweaks towards universal coverage/public option.

maybe i'm getting old but i'll take a return to normality and some repair to the damage done these 4 years over pie in the sky promises, no matter how urgent they appear. e.g. climate can be worked on without a promise of federal jobs for all.

your assumption is that they'll lose congress in 2 years and must do all they can right now. i understand, that's possible. but i think if they push for too much the loss is guaranteed.

otoh my take is that consolidation of a majority is possible and should be attempted. and it can be attempted via areas where there is common ground in the public.

and while matching capital gains tax to income bracket instead of giving it special treatment, or at least limiting the level at which it gets special treatment, is sure to be rejected by republicans, it should not stoke great popular discontent.

a presidency is nearly worthless without congress, as the merrick garland sabotage proved. i think democrats should focus on growing their majorities for years to come rather than try to squeeze quick victories between republican administrations.
