of course.

pbradley 08.02.2009 06:31 PM

There is no fan base I hate more than Bobby McFarrin fans.

automatic bzooty 08.02.2009 06:40 PM

he has a fanbase? i didn't know he had a fan, let alone many fans, to constitute a base.

Decayed Rhapsody 08.02.2009 07:07 PM

Pavement are alright. Definitely not worthy of the "best band of the 90's" label that a lot of people I know tag them with. Malkmus isn't a very convincing guy.

Anyone think their song "Here" sounds like Coldplay? Sort of resembles that song 'Yellow' that the radio stations used to play on loop.

dirty bunny 08.02.2009 09:02 PM

I don't understand the pavement hate. I guess it's just because some people absolutely worship them, and if you don't like them, you feel like you should? I have most of their albums, but they are pretty hit-and-miss. Still, the songs that I do like of theirs I like a lot. So that pretty much sums up my feelings about them.

Satan 08.03.2009 05:05 AM

the "new" my bloody valentine songs are nothing special
except cowboy song, i love that one

atsonicpark 08.03.2009 08:32 AM

the beatles suck...

HERE came out like ten years before coldplay and their fucking pussy bullshit

here rules.

demonrail666 08.03.2009 09:05 AM

even so, there is a resemblance

it's difficult to see how someone could love 'Here' and loathe something like say, 'Yellow'.

atsonicpark 08.03.2009 09:06 AM

they're both kinda boring to me.

I love pavement though.

Al Jarreau fans are even worse

I think we can all agree Kid Rock fans are the ultimate scum of the earth. I heard some chick today get excited about a Lynyrd Skynrd / Kid Rock concert.

GeneticKiss 08.04.2009 12:52 AM

I would imagine your average Kid Rock fan is a combination frat boy and redneck rolled into one.

Having been raised in Georgia I had no idea there was a difference between the two.

SuperCreep 08.04.2009 09:28 PM

I hate Mike Patton with the power of a thousand fiery suns.

jerf 08.04.2009 11:38 PM

i really dont like schizophrenia.

amerikangod 08.05.2009 01:09 AM

British smarminess is the worst kind of smarminess. In music. Why do people go for that shit?

There's a reason that would be an unpopular opinion.. I'll leave it at that.

i always thought smarminess was being nice in an overbearing, insincere way. Which is far from being the best thing ever.

Satan 08.05.2009 07:50 AM

Main Entry: smarmy
Pronunciation: \ˈsmär-mē\
Function: adjective
Inflected Form(s): smarm·i·er; smarm·i·est
Etymology: smarm to gush, slobber
Date: 1924
1 : revealing or marked by a smug, ingratiating, or false earnestness <a tone of smarmy self-satisfaction — New Yorker>
2 : of low sleazy taste or quality <smarmy eroticism>

atsonicpark 08.05.2009 07:50 AM

It just means being smug and sleazy...

atsonicpark 08.05.2009 07:50 AM

Ah, we posted that at the same time.

amerikangod 08.07.2009 12:37 AM

Well, perhaps I used the wrong word then. In my mind 'smarmy' was devoid of cleverness and snottiness. Like, not crass at all, moreso just obnoxiously smug. Maybe thinking one is being snotty, but not actually? How do I describe it...

You know that awful-named band Does It Offend You, Yeah? Well imagine some smug British jackass in a tweed blazer with a mop-top thinking he's being clever and actually asking 'Does It Offend You, Yeah?'

I want to cave that man's face in.

automatic bzooty 08.07.2009 12:50 AM

the name is the best part of does it offend you, yeah? i reckon that speaks volumes about the music of does it offend you, yeah?

yeah? yeah? YEAH?

GeneticKiss 08.07.2009 12:54 AM

Well, I used to think that You Me At Six was one of the wost band names ever, but I think those guys might've topped it.

I think if a band is defunct, then their name should be fair game. I'm sick of seeing twats trying to be clever because pretty much all the best band names have been taken...

schizophrenicroom 08.07.2009 12:56 AM

anal cunt still have the greatest name ever

viewtiful_alan 08.08.2009 12:02 AM

Nickelback are a quality rockband, the likes of which we need more of.

GeneticKiss 08.08.2009 01:46 AM

^Oh god, NO!!!

viewtiful_alan 08.08.2009 01:49 AM

What, you don't appreciate the heartfelt wailing of Chad Kroeger? The emotional instrumental heartporu that is his backing band?
Nickelback are a titan, a titan that represents everything rock could and should be.

Sonic Youth Gossip 08.08.2009 02:52 AM

note that due to the wording of the title, it is possible to post unpopular opinions that you don't agree with

eg green day are hardcore, kraftwerk are shite

Torn Curtain 08.13.2009 07:28 AM

I like Tori Amos's Little earthquakes and Under the pink (the latter in particular).

TheFoxBen 08.13.2009 08:55 AM

Dirty and NYC Ghosts & Flowers are the two best SY albums.

Is that unpopular? I always thought she was pretty cool. At least one good song on every album she's put out (except maybe the more recent ones).

Glice 04.08.2011 04:06 PM

The United States have produced far more amazing New Country songs in the last 5 years than they have anything in the 'alt.' vein, including noise.

Also, bump.

Also: threads where people talk about how shit some things are are better than threads where people talk about how great some things are.

floatingslowly 04.08.2011 04:26 PM

the precieved unpopularity of your (shit) opinion is highly geographically based. from where I'm sitting, you would get a round of hi-5's, several "hook-em horns" and a 6-pack of Budweiser (shit) beer.

I would get blank stares for extolling goth music and quite possibly a few forked-fingers/evil-eyes. I shudder what "they" will think about my voodoo tattoo. and by "they", I mean the people that would agree with your (shit) opinion.

c'mon over pardner, I'll buya a beeeer.

Glice 04.08.2011 04:54 PM

A popular, and correct, musical opinion would be that, regardless of the merits of some goth music, goths, the world over, are rightly reviled.

Genteel Death 04.11.2011 11:33 AM

70% of current improv music I listen to doesn't stick. And it's not my fault for sure.
