I'm usually less interested that someone has said something that might offend someone else, I'm more interested in the fact that the first person actually believes what they said. Appearances are only skin deep.

It's easy to be shallow and not listen to other people, just pound your opinion relentlessly into the psyche... That's what turns me off the worst about a lot of organized religion by the way, despite my being Muslim... A lot of sheep, and the herders are not by any means vegetarian...

but if we MUST bring it up, let's talk about which ethnicity commits the greatest number of violent crimes against homosexuals in the US.

Because the black community singles itself out by being more vocal about it's homophobia. Yes, homophobia exists everywhere and is just as prevalent in every other culture. I never singled out the black community, the black community has singled itself out. If the white community (whatever that is) was more public about their homophobia, I would chastise them to. And when they do say something homophobic (i.e. some conservative radio quack), I do condemn them and feel shame by association.

As for your second comment, I'm not going to involve myself in a game of racial "who is the worst." I'm not defending the white community, I'm defending no one. Criticism is not always politically motivated.

i'm actually surprised that it's stayed relatively civil the entire time.

but yeah, debate rarely occurs here anymore. i would like to give your a reason why it's like that, but i can't honestly say why. maybe it's because changing one's opinion or even being open to understand another's isn't seen as strong in modern red america.

and for the record, i wasn't saying that homophobia wasn't a serious issue in the black community. i was just saying that it's just as rampant in other communities as it is in the black community.

we've never really singled ourselves out. we've been under harsh scrutiny since forever. of course if a few assholes speak against homosexuality, they'll be treated as the ambassadors for an entire people. i don't know why, but it's always been that way. that's how people ended up with the skewed view that the best way to learn about black people is to listen to rap and an al sharpton speech.

HaydenAsche 11.05.2007 08:33 PM

Just because he said she was black doesn't mean he was saying they're bad people. She's black and she's a bitch.

And she's a close-minded cunt. Curb stomp that bitch.

i was more pointing out the he used the word bitch which some might say is a sexist term, while complaining about homophobia

cryptowonderdruginvogue 11.05.2007 08:53 PM

"bitch" is great for describing people of both sexes. crypto made it pretty clear that he was using to describe her attitude-- it has nothing to do with the fact that she's female. i'm sure he'd be just as pissed if it was a dude.
