If you watch the video of the Pistols last show in San Francisco right before they broke up, it is remarkably clear that Sid is actually playing the bass pretty damn well. Kind of ironic that he got it right only at the last possible moment, but it does indicate that some of the bad rap he gets (musically, not as far as being a useless fuck of a human being) isn't really fair. Having watched that I had to reasses my own belief that Sid was a no talent hack and take into consideration that for most of the time he was in the Pistols he was just not practiced, and that at the end of the American tour he was actually getting his parts down pretty well.

Fat people with no talent = no good.

Fat people with talent = good.

Children are advised not to read this post due to the high amount of offensiveness on it.

The lady in The Gossip or her bandmates must have a sense of humour for writing a song called ''Standing In The Way Of Control''.

Agreed, but anybody who pointed and laughed at Poison Idea, at least if they could see, really didn't have a desire to live too long...

it took him that long to learn the damn ridiculously EASY bass parts to sex pistols songs.

I have been making fun of that over-rated pissant fuck, that loser who RUINED the intelligent side of punk and made generation after generation worship his goddaMNED STUPIDITY AND NIHILISTIC IDIOCY since before you were born cantanks.

Cantankerous 06.17.2008 11:07 AM

yawnnnnnnn.

Rob Instigator 06.17.2008 11:21 AM

deal with it

only boring people get bored ya know.

demonrail666 06.17.2008 11:27 AM

I don't see how Sid Vicious killed off the 'intelligent' side of Punk. It's hardly as though he stood in the way of bands like Joy Division or The Fall.

and have you ever actually met anyone who genuinely idolises Sid Vicious in terms of his nihilistic behaviour? He's a face on T Shirts, a cool haircut. People got into the look, but I can honestly say that I've never met a single junky who got where they did because of Sid Vicious.

The only harm he ultimately ever caused was to himself.

sarramkrop 06.17.2008 11:41 AM

Well, people in rock bands do take drugs and often have been known to take other wrecked ''legends'' as role models. Johnny Rotten himself pointed out that Sid Vicious was a fashion victim with a Lou Reed fixation, so it's not far-fetched to conclude that he contributed (with very little of substance on offer, to tell the truth) to the smack rocker myth.

Yes I have, tons of sad sad punks in the 80's imitated him, and lived their "punk" lifestyle emulating him. YES they did.

yeah but americans are stupid

demonrail666 06.17.2008 12:03 PM

Seriously though, I honestly didn't think Sid Vicious was taken seriously by anyone. In Britain I'd definitely say that was the case but if you're saying people in the US took him seriously, well then I dunno.

Rob Instigator 06.17.2008 12:17 PM

I am not saying anyone took him seriously. I am saying that a SHIT-TON of teens EMULATED him, instead of emulating intelligent, worthwhile punks, because his bullshit fucking pathetic life and death were glamorized to no end as the "true" vision of punk rock.

that is undeniable man.
