So are there any fans that like all of Sonic Youth's music? I do...I can't imagine them recording an album that I would make me consider not buying it.

I happen to really like RR. Not sure what is meant by a 'newer' fan, in fact, I might be one. Liking RR does not make you a 'real' fan, though.

I bought the thing and now I have the cover and cant find the CD! Does this give me the right to download the album like all my friends have? Im a firm believer in supporting to the bands you like - Im the only one who goes out and blows 30 bucks for 2 cds I could have had for 50 cents but man this sucks. All I can do now is stream it or have someone burn it for me. Anyway, I have the original cover art and thats worth something to me still.

I picked up my copy shortly after it came out. It's not Sonic Youth's greatest work, but in no way is it their worst either. After multiple listens, I think it's a good album, and it also plays well live.

ive liked sy for about 10 years, but my favorite period is the beginning thru to sister. then i love a thousand leaves and like pretty much everything else except RR and nurse. i wont be buying rather ripped.
i think all the people who love it should buy two copies to make up for us fake fans who think it sucks.

I bought it because SY is one those bands whose records i traditionally buy regardless.I now think it's their weakest by far(i was really hopeful for more fresh ideas when they had Jim O'Rourke in their ranks) but i can't help it.The last two i have to say i've bought purely out of habit.

I got mine two weeks ago, although I don't listen to it much,
y'know when I grab into my SY shelf and reach for RR,
and then I point my eyes at Daydream Nation or Evol
and say
Fuck It, this is my delight.
And Rather Ripped keeps on lying there.







It's not a bad album though. It's just not that good

Openmindedness..............................the people that hate this record must retrieve this. Rather Ripped is an amazing album. It may not come close to the other LPs on the sonic spectrum but it is still a screaming field of sonic love. Its something new!
