they're posh.

I do like Lyle And Scott because they're medium is an absolute perfect fit for me (considering my dimensions, that's quite something) and they're well-made. I also have a couple of nice plain Burberry ones, bought from Ebay, as they have vibrant colours (a nice forest-green one). I seem to have found myself dressing like a football casual of late, due to my fondness for expensive-ish British labels (for their classic simplicity).

I need to get some better t-shirts for summer. I actually like wearing a good tee with khakis more than a polo.
|
I'm with SC on this one. The only good function of a polo shirt is as a work uniform. Not a fashion item. They look terrible on anyone outside of a 'everyone dress the same due to branding' situation... and even then they look silly. Wear a t shirt, or wear a nice cotton shirt. Either are quite dashing. But not a polo ffs.
just no. |
Wrong. They look terrible if the fit is wrong or the colors are weird. But if you know how they're supposed to fit (slim), they're totally legit. They're classic, man. Haven't you ever seen Sean Connery in those old Bond films? Or pix of John Kennedy on the beach?

They're a part of my school uniform. They're my favourite part of the uniform. I wear normal polo shirts sometimes outside of school too. I like them.

polo shirts are for working drones

yeh, I get what you mean about fit. Regardless, the look does nothing for me. I can't help but think it just looks like their mom still buys their clothing. |

I think there is an age that men get to where t-shirts don't look good at all (along with most types of jeans, trainers, etc). For casual wear, polo shirts seem much better to me.
Note: I work in a place full of students, who all dress at Top Shop, and middle-aged people, who feel insecure and copy them by buying everything from Top Shop too, and they all look like idiots, so maybe I've over-reacted a bit on the conservative side. |

What age would that be? I think it depends more on fitness. If you're fit, you can wear a t-shirt or a polo. However, I have become convinced that band t-shirts look pretty ridiculous on any guy over 16. Whenever I see one on a grown man I think he's dressing like a little kid and probably doesn't even the slightest notion how to dress properly. Women, on the other hand, can get away with wearing these and look just fiinnneee.. As for polos specifically, it depends on the role model you're using. If you wanna go for the pizza delivery guy look, there's that. On the other hand, if you have in mind more the Sean Connery or Steve McQueen look, there's that. Like any piece of clothing, you can look ridiculous or cool, depending on how you wear it. |

I wish I had a sailboat. Of course, then I'd need to learn how to sail one. But it would be a great place to hang out in my polo shirts.

I wish I had that skinhead girl on the left.

Well, obviously there isn't a set age but in the same way that, as you say, anyone over 16 shouldn't wear a band t-shirt (which I agree with), I think there is an age where 'fashion' t-shirts (to compromise) just look horrible. Obviously a plain t-shirt, on a fit-ish person, isn't going to look out of place at all (though they're not for me). |

This is, by quite a substantial margin, not only the best thing you've ever said, but the best thing anyone on the internet has ever said. That includes things I have said. And I'm FUCKING INCREDIBLE. |
