For me, it's a highlight of both the album and the live shows.

There's a new Corin Tucker Band album out this week! I had ZERO idea about this until I read it on the All Music Guide newsletter just minutes ago. I gotta get on that Internet thing; I'm late on everything...

Thanks for the heads up, I really love the Corin Tucker Band, its like a matured version of Cadillaca, and I am very much looking forward to getting this new album :)

She's so frigging cool. And a mother of two. Why can't my mom be as cool as Corin?

Anyway, I think I'll get to see her at least twice this fall.

I am hoping to catch the LA show in october. I remember when Corin's first kid was born, it was so cool, I was much younger, and they had just inched into their late 20s, so we were all as fans and a band maturing together. It was soooo cool switch towards family oriented rocking. Bands that grow up with you are the best bands, bands that are stuck in the past tend to get dated real fast.

I was just thinking as I was watching that youtube gig how much I love that Corin is still playing live music and making kick ass albums for me, 15 years after my first S-K album, 12 years after my first gig with them, and they with wildflag just keep going strong, building a community and giving us good music to enjoy so we don't have to be stuck on nostalgia playlists ;)

I agree, I always get to chat with Janet cuz she and Carrie like to run the merch tables. At SK shows Janet was always out in the crowd, sort of like Steve is with SY. Why are the drummers always the sociable ones, is it cuz they sit in the back all lonely behind the kit?

The Corin Tucker Band is this week's guest editor at Magnet Magazine:

Robert Christgau's review of the new album:
Quote:

Corin Tucker Band: Kill My Blues (Kill Rock Stars)

After the feminist scolding cum rallying cry, my favorites are the happy love songs, every one about a marriage that has no time for the fantasy that wedlock is boring and may even wish it was sometimes: a health scare, an emotional rupture, a vacation they need every mile and minute of. Mourning Joey Ramone and clearing emotional space for her infant daughter, she's slightly slower and considerably more melodramatic, as is only appropriate. Other times the melodrama appears merely the organic outcome of a larger-than-life voice. A MINUS

I saw them at Aladin's.

Good stuff, but for a kid who literally grew up with S-K (seen them more than any other band but one) it was just like.... "uh. ok. But why not just regroup SK?"

I'm heading out in an hour, and I am too excited. I have been haunting dance halls and dive bars but I haven't seen a good rock show in two years! Just roots reggae..
