why do you think they'd choose to just overdub extra vocals onto one song on a live album though?
|
Love the clip of "Into the Groove" at the start of "I love her all the time". Took me by surprise
|
has anyone compared "I Love Her All The Time" on here to the original bootleg?
|
I listened to the version that was shared on Dime years ago and I don't hear any double tracked vocal. Don't have the new release to compare, though.

odd though right? The idea that they'd pick one song on a live album to add vox that weren't originally there? |
I listened to the old bootleg...only one vocal...sounds like the in tune vocal was overdubbed later.
|
This will be interesting to hear!

 Still a great release though! |

yes, fantastic release. I love this album! More than anything I'm just curious about the real decision behind the overdub. It's an interesting mystery haha. |
noisereductions:
it seems they did it b/c the original vocal was very very out of tune. i remember thinking that when i had the anarchy at st marks pl boot in the 90s. obviously sy aren't ones to be too picky about in and out of tune but i guess this one was too much for thurston. |
especially if he is still trying to pick up chicks...

yeah. Still strikes me as odd... for SY I mean. So where do you all think the vocal came from? New take? |

No, Thurston stopped sounding like that in 1990 when he finally finished puberty. |
Got this yesterday, itīs just sooo great, pure Sonik Magik!
It is very easily heard how much better drummer Steve is than Bob. Specially Death Valley, Ghost Bitch & Brother James are just murder! Only song where I like Bobīs drumming more is Kill Yr Idols, but this version is not bad. I also like a lot a Flower version, it differs from the original studio version a lot, but I love them both as much! I really donīt like that overdub in I love her at all, itīs sound so unnatural. I think it would have been better solution to leave it out, because the rest material sound so 100 % live. And Iīm not totally against the overdubs in live recording, for example Zappa has succeeded them. |

"Flower" is the standout for me on this album. I think it's better than the studio version.
SS's drumming is ridiculous right out the gate on "Halloween" even. It's subtle maybe but proof of just how awesome he was in thinking outside the box on that material. I also love the version of "Burning Spear" -- especially the drums. I really don't mind the overdubbed vox. I think it sounds cool even if not natural. |
Today I finally found the way to my record dealer, but he did not have it there. Is it already available in Germany? (Some mail orders talk about the end of November.)
|
I pre-orderd the LP from Midheaven and the CD from KungFu. Got the cd last week (even though I ordered it after the LP) and today I got a package from Midheaven but they have also sent me the CD.

Been waiting until I can pick this up in person at the weekend, but am really looking forward to it, especially reading the above comments - it captures possibly my favourite live period of the band.
Interested to see how it matches up to Walls Have Ears which, in the right frame of mind, is my #1 SY elpee... |

that sucks! Midheaven never even responded to my email about why it shipped a week later than listed. Pfft. Guess I won't be dealing with them anymore. |
