Yes! I heard about this! I wish I knew more about what the fuck it was! I also wish it wasn't an EP. It's been 2 years, and the post-SYRO EPs have been very good, not to mention RDJ's bigass SoundCloud dumps. But I'm ready for a new full length. Granted, not a day has gone by in the past 16 years when I haven't been "ready" for new Aphex Twin. But it seems like it's time for the next installment. Not complaining though. It's new Aphex Twin. And it's called Cheetah, which is by far the most straight forward title for any Aphex Twin related thing ever. |

New EP by The Strokes |

Wait, what? You say "new garbage," I ask if you're talking about the new album by Garbage (who is, coincidentally, garbage) and you reply with "New EP by the Strokes"? What the fuck man? What's going on with you? I don't believe you're excited about the new Strokes EP either. I think you're messing with me. But I don't know why. :( |
New contender:
![]() Woo! |
![]() This is gonna be the shit. Three versions: Deluxe Package 2LP, 2LP, and digital only. Magenta and clear vinyl versions are limited. BUY IT! Quote:
Coupla Soupnotes: * Both Gyrate and Chomp were reissued with bonus tracks in 2007 and 2009, respectively; they were even rechristened Gyrate Plus and Chomp More. What they didn't include was live stuff. ** If you pre-order the vinyl it will "ship out on or around 01 July 2016". |
Alice Bag--self-titled solo album. Three songs from it have been posted on youtube. After a gentle beginning, "Poisoned Seed" rocks FURIOUSLY, "No Means No" is pretty powerful as well, and "He's So Sorry" could pass for a 60s girl group but for the hard hitting lyrics imploring women to leave abusive relationships with men.
And to top it all off, she's coming to Cincinnati on her tour. It's on a week night but I'm going to do my damnedest to be there. |

Aphex Twin - CIRKLON3 [ Колхозная mix ] |
Quote:
Yeah, I saw/heard. Previewed some of the other tracks too. Shaping up to be a much more definitively Aphex Twin-y release than Computer Controlled... or Deejay Selek. I'm really liking what I'm hearing so far, and I'm ready for the EP. |
New Wye Oak!
![]() Tween (August 5) - the title refers to the fact that it's a collection of songs that didn't make it onto Civilian nor Shriek, so they were left "between" those albums. |
I'm just waiting for that new Nine Inch Nails.

Uh. What? Are you making fun of me, or is there actually a new NIN album in the works? |
Listened to that Aphex Twin video / watched// Cirklon3 shite and was bored out me tits man. What's the fella deeing man. There was better stuff on the soundcloud like Organ 28. Last 2 ep's were piss porr n al fuckin el. hawee jim breath new life into white privilege like only you know how dicky
|
Quote:
I'm making fun of you, but there really is supposed to be a new NIN halo coming this year. :) http://consequenceofsound.net/2015/1...eturn-in-2016/ New NIN coming in 2016. Other stuff, too. |
Is Trent still mining the midi files like some lo-fi douche even though he's a multi millionaire and still making a shit load of money? lolz
|
Quote:
I actually was really displeased by the last one. I grew up with NIN, so I have some loyalty, and I love Trent's film scores, but if new NIN means more Hesitation Marks-style bull crap, then fudge it. |
Hesitation Marks was sick. What didn't you like about it? I don't think he has a bad album, so I'm likely biased.
|

I don't know exactly. It just seemed weak. Except for the bonus track with Genesis P-Orridge. I liked that. Everything else just fell flat for me, compared to the last few pre-hiatus records, which I admittedly didn't like at first (except for the Slip), so maybe I should revisit. Maybe it will wow me upon reevaluation like Year Zero and Ghosts did. |
you're not going to believe me, shit, i don't quite believe myself even, but Red Hot Chili Peppers The Getaway is a totally listenable record.
|
Quote:
I believe that it's listenable. I just have absolutely no interest in listening to it. I know that sounds a bit closed-minded, but I've given RHCP several shots over the years, and long ago I decided that I had no interest in continuing to listen to them. |

Bro, it fuckin bumps lolololol :fuckyou: :) :p  I came back, I came back hau-hau-haunted. |

In related news... ![]() Flock of Dimes (Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner) Signs to Partisan, Announces Debut Album and Shares Teaser Also Has Designed a Signature Guitar for Reverend Guitars - and she has written an essay about guitars for Medium EPIC. I have all of Flock Of Dimes' 7"s. :) |

Fennesz + Jim O'Rourke is out, btw. Ordered my physical copy and previewed the tracks online (briefly, to give me something to look forward to), and I have to say that I think I'm going to prefer it to Fenn O'Berg. Been really looking forward to this one. Didn't even bother to glance at the Pitchfork review, because I'm not going to let them ruin it for me.
|
Quote:
I feel I need to get this one ASAP, but for me Pitchfork or anyone else is less likely to ruin it than the cover itself! What are they doing to that doggy? :( ![]() |
Quote:
Yeah, I don't like it either. Wait, are you making fun of me or does the cover really put you off? Eh. I don't care. I don't like it. |
Quote:
Zero mockery this time — the cover really puts me off. Just what the FUCK were they thinking? I don't care if they put a guy getting punched in the dick on the cover; you don't mess with animals, man. |
The Tim Hecker album is really good
|
That orourke/fennesz album is beautiful. I thought the pup was having a good time on the cover...
|
Quote:
Agreed. |
how is it possible for you guys to listen to both o'rourke and fennesz yet not understand that black humour is central to both their work Jesus fucking Christ
|
The latest Oranssi Pazuzu is a total mindblower and I have heard little yet this year as good, in addition to the newest Aluk Todolo.
|
Quote:
I understand that. It's more true of O'Rourke than it is of Fennesz, but yes, I get it. Completely. And yet, the artwork for Insignificance and Eureka doesn't even make me bat an eye. Mostly because it's illustrated, and entirely fanciful. The cover of "...Sorry" is neither of those things. For all I know, it could just be a pic someone snapped of Jim (or Christjan or whomever) playing with a beloved family pet. But it could just as easily be something much more sinister. But either way, what it's a picture of is less relevant than what it presents, and this album cover aims to present an unsettling image of (implied) animak abuse. You can have "black humor" shooting out your asshole and be dark as fuck your entire life without ever alienating the very people who support you most. Not trying to turn this into a bigger deal than it is, but the fact is that the photo is fucking unsettling as hell, and I don't have to not be grossed out by it just because I happen to like (and "understand") the artists. |
Quote:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/post/ids...b-64fc7d3fabc8 the new one is real reminiscent of the Analord series... slow-burning and chilled the fuck OUT.. and it's got some great sounds/timbres/textures. it's not packed full of twists and turns, or acrobatic flashy shit (Drukqs?)... definitely more meditative and relaxed, which i can dig. have you listened to the elseqs by Autechre? now that shit is wild-sounding, w/a life of its own. |
Quote:
Yeah, the new track is definitely a "type II" Aphex Twin tune, for sure. The first certainly wasn't boring, but it was pretty standard RDJ; the kind of thing we've heard on studio releases since the Richard D. James Album. That stuff is the bread and butter of Aphex Twin, though, so I fucking love it. But the newer track comes from a different place. So far, I'm loving everything Cheetah's had to offer. And I agree about Elseq 1-5. That project is in its own world entirely. SO MUCH Autechre!! It's like Christmas! |
Quote:
Analord is one of dickies better dumps and this song does sound familiar but this new stuff just sounds bereft and laboured something the aforementioned albums worst tracks suffered from. The best stuff on druqs/druqks/DRUGS is the piano pieces taylor made for sales execs the world over, like moby. Still ace nonetheless until you hear them in a nappie commercial or worse yet a fucking Kanye west song. Is that the new autechre? It's got to be complete utter banter piss hasn't it? |
Quote:
it's a fucking goldmine, and it's massive, varied.. approx. four hours worth of new material. there's bound to be something on at least 1/5 of the eps that strikes yer fancy |
Quote:
Yes, Elseq 1-5 is new Autechre. No, it's not piss. It's incredible. And "Blame Game" is a brilliant song. Wish Kanye had actually gotten RDJ's approval for the sample, but ultimately I don't care, because that song needed to be made, so fuck it. |
Quote:
EPs? Pretty long to be EPs. Feels more like 5 brand new full length albums to me. Or one REALLY FUCKING LONG album. Either way, yes... It's a goldmine for sure. |
