not really into the first track, but the second tracks rules hard.

marleypumpkin 04.24.2008 01:55 PM

Why is it that the people who order their copy legitimitely will be the last to hear this? I'm still waiting on my copy.

Derek 04.24.2008 02:14 PM

i'm still waiting on my copy as well, but curiosity got the better of me.

Rob Instigator 04.24.2008 02:57 PM

I hit the indie record store.

they had copies.

the whole thing RULES

I can overstand that, it's been getting the better of me, but somehow I've held off.

noisereductions 04.24.2008 06:30 PM

Still waiting on my vinyl, but I listened to me eMusic copy this morning. "J'Accuse" is incredible. I actually like it more than "Agnes B"

rossboss 04.25.2008 10:49 AM

Got mine today!Wohoo!!! Had a smoke, got under my duvet, and threw on the record-Unbelievable! Love both tracks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Agnes B" is especially beautiful.....

Derek 04.25.2008 10:50 AM

i really like Agnes B.

stu666 04.25.2008 12:47 PM

got mine today too and i am going to listen to it as soon as i can get the shrink wrap off!

wellcharge 04.25.2008 08:44 PM

i like agnes b alot

didn't like the vocals/lyrics on side 1,although i feel a strange urge to read good housekeeping

fluxequalsrad 04.26.2008 09:42 AM

I just realized something, forgive me if its already been mentioned.

Is the picture of Thurston on the cover from a magazine/newspaper with a bad review for a "Goodbye 20th Century" show. If it is that would be pretty awesome... I mean it says "THURSTON MOORE, GOODBYE 20TH CENTURY, GOODBYE TALENT"

mil_pl 04.26.2008 09:45 AM

hah, it's funny then. i didn't know that.

Might have been the NME, I hate those bastards!

radarmaker 04.26.2008 03:07 PM

It was indeed the NME.

I hit up 4 indie stores today looking for this - one had sold out already, 2 weren't expecting them until the middle of next week and the last one had no idea what I was talking about but said "um, yeah, I think that's been delayed actually". Bah!

How can they put down Sonic Youth when they hype up some of the worst bands ever?

Because they're an agenda-driven machine. They exist to promote the latest drivel and make money by doing so; not to respect good bands who are already established and don't need or care about NME.

Derek 04.27.2008 06:34 AM

It's a shame kids latch onto what they write about.

whorefrost 04.28.2008 08:53 AM

J'Accuse Ted Hughes is a gorgeous, dreamy mindfuck, even more potent than I recalled it. Listening to it now, it reminds me a lot of the Mirror/Dash side I Can't Be Bought...

fluxequalsrad 04.28.2008 01:56 PM

weird how pitchfork hasn't reviewed it yet. how am I suppose to know if I like it or not?

greenlight 04.28.2008 02:17 PM

just got mine copy today, all i need now is turnable, hehe. can't wait to hear some rip, before i get som player, might take some time.

They're too busy sucking off Animal Collective.

whorefrost 04.29.2008 10:47 AM

This is funny. Taken from diskant.net:

"...it never even occurred to me to leave early for SONIC YOUTH and, in retrospect, I'm extremely thankful for that as we arrived upstairs to a wailing cacophany of noise. Actually that makes it sound much better than it was. It was as if they had picked some pensioners off the street who had never seen musical instruments before and were just guessing how to play them. Kim Gordon did mention she'd been having difficulty making coffee in their chalet so maybe they were missing their caffeine buzz or something. I could point out that there were parts of the set that I enjoyed when they made some fantastic noises but that would be like offering excuses for a band whose arrogance disappointed so many people who'd been prepared to overlook a little self-indulgence in return for some wonder. Instead they seriously pissed off a number of longtime fans and ruined rock day for everyone. How they managed to get an encore I'll never know and that they then had the cheek to play a proper song (i.e Sunday) is just frightening."

from sy newsletter:
"Digital downloads of SYR7 and more will be available for purchase directly from sonicyouth.com in May."

I know that not everyone is keen on spending money for digitally delivered goods, but I think that "this is supposed to be for the non-vinyl users"....that is, if you still think that it's worth to pay money for sy releases.
oh, just to clarify, I don't mean to "attack" specifically you or anything, I just think posting links for sy stuff just released/officially and widely available is plain wrong on here.

█████████ 05.01.2008 07:02 AM

i dont know if it's wrong or not, i just think it doesnt need more publicity.

i'm really against this kind of practice. mp3s sucks and pay for it is just non-understandble. i have to say that i really don't understant this sonic youth choice.
we already have this discussion on this forum : pro or aginst digital sound.
buying just data's is stupid. i know, it is not my right to tell what sy are doing is bad but...

no problem nic-fit, i know you don't want to attack me personnally. i think, it is possible to just talk even if we disagree :p

yeah, you're right. i was not sure to post this but i was trying to take the place of a person that heard lot of comments about it and could not listen to it
the only things i can say is that, if you download this mp3, try to buy it later on line
(i said that but i'll never buy digital music !!! even if i haven't gor a vinyl player, i couldn't buy it online)
that's a U2 or prince practice

PAULYBEE2656 05.01.2008 08:34 AM

just for the record syr7 is great, i got my mp3 version so screw you all vinyl junkies....... or something!

PAULYBEE2656 05.01.2008 08:36 AM

vacuum noise 05.01.2008 05:05 PM

Cover image is credited on the sleeve as (c) Melody Maker / IPC.

But yes, it's a great image. I'd love a copy of that issue.

dunno, no further infos on that... but honestly, if you already paid fot the LP copy you shouldn't feel too guilty downloading a "pirate" mp3 version...which is not too hard to find, actually .
oh and welcome on here.
