you can tell they're wrapping up. The thing I haven't liked about this season so far is the 80's new wave soundtrack playing too loud. (and I like that music, too) Also, when is someone going to kill Beeman? That MF should have gone a loooooong time ago.:fuckyou: |
Quote:
Whaaaaaaaaay?! He’s, like, obscenely likable!! Honesty, there’s just something about his voice and delivery and naïveté that makes me like him even when he’s acting a fool. Neither of them would kill Beeman unless they had no other option. Well, maybe Elizabeth would, but I don’t think that’s where things are heading. It’s not going to be like Breaking Bad, with Walter and Hank colliding and someone dying once the beans are spilled. It will be weirder than that, I promise. |
Well, I guess you're watching a different Beeman. I think he's a thug in about the worst way. The treatment he gives to his spies/informants is pretty fucking awful. Kill Beeman, please! Defenestrate the guy...
|
just started GLOW on netlix
after halt and catch fire, the new addition to 80s tv archeology (now that the 80s are as ancient as the 60s), and it’s pretty good so far! alison brie and marc maron are in it, plus that weird doctor from the last seasons of nurse jackie so i was looking for more info on it and apparently—holy shit!—it was a real thing http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0252462/ |

I need to re-watch this sometime soon, and it very much was a real thing. There's a documentary on Netflix about it too, if you want some more real history. One of the girls from the real promotion got added to the WWE Hall of Fame on friday as well. |
Quote:
i checked out their website today and i’ll be looking at the documentary, yeah |
Quote:
Definitely thug moments but the character is a lot more than that, and has shown himself to have a (potentially overactive to the point of malfunctioning) conscience on multiple occasions. Also, that voice! The fuck? How can you not like a guy who talks like that? It’s like he was made in a sad best friend factory! |
this shit continues to be great even after decades. pure genius. |
Quote:
Never realized this was such a “thing.” Used to catch snippets in passing while flipping through channels, lolled a bit, but not sure I’ve ever watched a full episode. |
Quote:
get to watchin’! start from the beginning of course. no story arc of any kind, just you get to know them in the right order |
yes indeed. Highly recommended. They are absolutely fabulous :D
The same goes for French and Saunders even though it's a completely different format, more like a sketch show, a bit similar to Little Britain. But e.g. their re-enactment of famous movie scenes were brilliant. Did any of you watch the new Roseanne already? I'm, very curious. I used to love that series back in the days. I hope it will be aired on public TV in my country soonish (I don't have netflix or whatever you hip folks are watching these days) |
Problem I have with Joanna Lumley is that I can't take her seriously, because she looks exactly the same in real life as she was in that series. But she made some fantastic documentaries, such as Joanna Lumley in the Land of the Northern Lights
(there's also a complete version on YT but of lesser quality) |
Legion season 2 episode 1
Weird. Maybe not as good as episode 1 of season 1, which just sucked me right the fuck in. Still pleasantly bizarro and the only X-title worth mentioning. |
Two more episodes left of the latest Better Call Saul season.
also, watching new Trailer Park Boys season. sad knowing that the actor playing Lahey died. |

When’s Saul season 4 start? |

guessing summer? |
Going through all of Star Trek TNG right now. I remember unattentively watching a lot of the reruns in the 90s and early 2000s as a child. Didn't care for it much then, but then again I was a kiddo. I do see a lot of the appeal nowadays. The world-building if executed with finesse, is quite captivating and of course the philosophical elements are there as well. The series is far from spotless though. Season 1 and some of the early episodes of Season 2 can be a chore to sit through from time to time.
|
Quote:
yeah. wait till they bring the old doctor. meanwhile, let’s all hate on fucking wesley. so annoying! lol — ps, when you finish TNG check out DS9. best star trek series ever. |
Speaking of GLOW, they're back with season 2 in late June :D
|
Atlanta Season 2. A couple of odd episodes, but real creative TV. Recco!
|
on my last night of netflix cramming absolutely fabulous episodes
looks like season 3 has an arc after all! so yeah “important” to watch in order, after all not season 1 though. but whatever. great shit ha ha ha haaa |
Hasn’t Westworld season 2 started?
I’m way behind on everything. Two eps behind on Americans, three on Legion. No time. NO TIME! |
they did start yeah. don’t care about watching week to week. will binge eventually one of those days— maybe add the HBO channel for a month in the summer and catch this + final gaymotron. too many fucking services to juggle = death from a thousand papercuts. plus now world cup will take up most screen time for me. world cup! that’s the best “reality tv” ever.
|
I couldn't get going in Westworld 1. There was a scene where the main bad guy was killing some guy for no plot reason or for anything else I could tell. So, I bailed.
I started on the Terror the other day. it is EXCELLENT! |
Quote:
Westworld is a little brutal in the beginning. Want to watch The Terror. Forgot about that one. |
Quote:
pretty thin on plot actually when you remove the tit-illation. okay not so thin but, no new ideas really in this science fiction that we have not seen with replicants already. im getting tired of tv again ha ha ha after finishing americans i might just quit for a while. the golden age of tv might just end in same old jerkoff, just more style. |
Quote:
yeah, the Westworld part I was talking about was so gratuitous. Reminded me of the Saw kind of thing. Pointless and repulsive. At the same time, Kill Bill worked for me, so I suppose artistry may be the crux? |

I have similar issues with similar things. Only barely made it through the first ep of WW. It didn’t quite get that rough in that way again... though it did get plenty rough. |
watched the first episodes of Legion with the wife this weekend. we now refer to that show as "Crazy Shit", and yes, we capitalize it when we say it. hahhahahah.
Legion makes Jessica Jones look like a weak episode of Saved By The Bell |
Quote:
I KNOW! It’s so fucking good! I wasn’t sure how they were going to follow up the “Wes Anderson goes to Xavier’s Academy” vibe of the first season without being self-derivative, even though I loved that season — but the decision to go balls out weird/dark-as-shit/meta-horror was a great one. Sometimes it’s a little exhausting to watch, but it’s goooooood. And Don Draper narrating (for some reason) !!! |
been bingeing on some badly made canuck tv. gail vaz-oxlade’s “till debt do us part”. i had heard about her from pf circles but never seen her. the show is formulaic and repetitive and all that, but no matter— i watch it to stimulate paying attention to money is all. great for that purpose! this should be mandatory viewing for everyone—especially people who carry comsumer debt.

Blacklisted? He’s been in every season including the season 4 “remix” (re-arrangedmplot for people who don’t read books) that his Netflix last week. I wasn’t aware he was ever “blacklisted,” but of course he’s in it! |
Quote:

Yeah, a former assistant--apparently disgruntled--made the claim.
He denied it. I believe him. Tie me to a stake and set a fire. |
right. you believe him but jill soloway threw him under the bus and amazon shitcanned him.
who else is a communist? |
Quote:
I didn’t know about any of this. How does Transparent work without him? Oh well. Looked like he was in the trailer. |
Quote:
hard to keep up with the endless parade these days Quote:
i’m guessing they’ll make it more about the mental wank of the boring sisters? trans of the week? something? i’ve no idea. Quote:
i hope he doesn’t get spacey’d |
Is anyone watching the Eurovision song contest?
The Dutch contestant now refuses to talk to the two biggest Dutch news papers, because they were being too negative on him. But they were right. He sucks :D |
