i don't think they're the end all be all of everything but i do love them muchly and no shitty second-rate shoegaze band like lush and slowdive can even begin to compare to them

I think Trees Outside the Academy is FAR better than Psychic Hearts, an album that has cool guitar parts with really lame lyrics and vocal arrangements (his vocal inflections basically just mimic the guitar..) its like an album filled with nothing but thurston's lame 'rockers' that you usually either just kind of like or kind of ignore on the regular albums.
Trees is filled with very well written songs, sounds fantastic, and the guitars, though mostly acoustic, still manage to sound like Thurston.
Why? Psychic Hearts is total crap haha.

Jeff Buckley probably could have matured into a better, more interesting songwriter had he lived longer, but as it stands, he was pretty crap.

Following off that, the only versions of Hallelujah that should have ever been recorded is the Cohen original and John Cale's version.

-Though Macbeth has to be in the top 10 best Sonic Youth tracks, I think The Whitey Album really is a bit crap.

Agreed, and will add that I think most SYR's aren't that great either.

And I still don't see why some view Silver Sessions as an epic masterpiece.
