Been doing some thinking.. and I think the Wii is the best console system of this generation. Just look at all the great games for it..
- Ultimate Shooting Collection (with Radio Allergy, Chaos Field, and Karous -- 3 amazing shooters) - No More Heroes 1-2 - Sin and Punishment 2 - MadWorld - Fire Emblem - Tatsunoko Vs Capcom Ultimate All-Stars - Endless Ocean 2 - Super Paper Mario - Mario Galaxy 1-2 - New Super Mario Brothers Wii - Phantom Brave: We Meet Again - Zack and Wiki - Boom Blox - Twilight Princess (though I'd rather play the Cube version) - Castle Shikigami 3 - Geometry Wars - Mega Man 10 - Muramasa: The Demon Blade - Rune Factory Frontier - Swords and Soldiers - Excitebots - Little King Story - LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias - Contra Rebirth - Driift Mania - NyxQuest - You, Me and the Cubes - Dawn of Discovery - Cursed Mountain - Valhalla Knights - FFIV: The After Years - Tales of Symphonia 2 - Onechanbara - Spectrobes - Trauma Center - Monster Hunter Tri - Metroid Prime Trilogy - Okami - Dokapon Kingdom - Bit.Trip - Brawl - Arc Rise Fantasia - Cave Story (I have this for the PC -- it RULES!) - Mega Man 9 Coming soon... La Mulana, Metroid: Other M, the new Zelda, Dragon Quest X (which will be the best game of the system), Xenoblade, Radirgy Noa Massive, Kirby's Epic Yarn, and if that new Tales game comes out in America... Pikmin 3... That doesn't even include all the great virtual Console games, all the GameCube games, and I didn't even list that many WiiWare games. What an amazing system. I even like the 360 okay, though I'm not into First Person Shooters at all, and I'm mainly just interested in the Live stuff, though the best ones (Ikaruga, Rez HD, Symphony of the Night, Geometry Wars) I have elsewhere, for other systems. The PS3.. uh... um... Disgaea 3 and Trico look nice... uhh... um... |
did I tell you I finally got a Wii this past month? Been kiling shit w the wife on House Of The Dead 2.
|
Someone gave me God of War and God of War 2 so I've played a few hours of each and to be honest, I don't think they're very good. Why did everyone make such a big deal about these games?

Outstanding title, from an even better franchise that honestly improves with every entry into the series. The DS version is insane. |

I thought the exact same thing. Extremely average games that are even rather boring. I guess people thought the boss fights/gore was really cool or something. |
Yeah, and there's only a few boss fights in the first one.. the second one's a lot better but both are just average. I played the Red Star recently and it's WAY more fun, it's got the beat-em-up style gameplay, but it also has shooting (like Contra -- but in 3D and actually works, unlike the 3D Contras!), and it's got shoot-em-up parts where you get into a plane and kill things.
God of War feels a lot like Devil May Cry without the cool atmosphere and without the fun (if a bit sloppy) gameplay; even those games aren't that great but they get by on how entertaining the setting is... the eerie but sometimes rawkin' soundtracks, the b-movie cheesiness, the cool backgrounds, and a neat main character (at least when he isn't making one liners). Kratos feels like a big dumb unlikeable "anti-hero", and the few boss fights feel like shitty Shadow of the Collosus wannabes. Oh well, should be able to resell em really easily. |
bought this for 10 bucks a few minutes ago. planned to buy it after I played hotel dusk short after its release and I loved it. so high expectations for this one, too. |

one of the best Hack n Slashs Ive ever played (and which was the instant reason for me to buy the classic xbox) is OTOGI 2. I recommended this before to you asp, I think. and I cant stretch this enough. I still love it!!! |
|
^kicks ass.
|
Wow, it didn't occur to me until just now how fucking rad that cover is. Those turtles look mean! Love the foot soldier riding on the T-Rex.
|
did you guys read my GBA turtles post on rfgeneration.com/blogs/noiseredux ?
|
I read it. I don't own a GBA and only played one once so I have a pretty small frame of reference. But all of those games look good. Good reviews. Is Raphael still the most difficult Turtle to play as in those games?
|
it generally keeps that balance -- Mike and Leo are sort of even, Raph is fast and weak and Don is slow and strong.

AHHH so you just saw how badass Snake really is. (The cutscene where you sneak into the hiding joint of the resistance). That's one of my favorite scenes...I love how Snake just handles everyone. But yeah. yer about halfway....a little more. You got 2 acts left. |
I've just beaten Grand Theft Auto IV, I expected something harder for the final mission but whatever... Awesome game.
|
And I've just begun playing this :

I was skeptical of how well the Earthworm Jim series would transfer over to 3D. But honestly, I'm having a pretty decent time so far, and the game carries the surreal wackiness of the franchise into the 3rd dimension, quite well. It's a bit like if Jet Force Gemini and Banjo Kazooie had a malformed baby... Eraserhead style. |
never been a big EWJ fan.
|
I loved Jet Force Gemini.
|
Love earthworm Jim and like part 2. never played anything afterwards.
|
Far Cry 1 again. Such a good game!
|
Haha, Earthworm Jim 3D kinda sucks. It wasn't as bad as Bubsy 3D... but even Gex: Enter the Gecko was more interesting and fun... though none of those "3D adventures" were as good as Mystical Ninja... all that stuff looks silly next to stuff like Vagrant Story though... but yeah, the second EWJ wasn't very good either, because it relied too much on annoying gimmicky little mini levels and not enough of the stuff Earthworm Jim was actually known for (fun, quirky side scrolling/shooting action). Even then, he was surrounded by awesome games that no one paid attention to like Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier, and Pulseman (I had the Sega Channel!).
But yeah, Jet Force Gemini is a classic. Rare were great back in the day.. Blast Corps rules too. Banjo can take a hike, but Conker was alright... Donkey Kong 64 was HORRIBLE... whenever people tell me they like that, I tell them to go to a grocery store and collect 100 bananas.. then collect a hundred of this.. then a hundred of that.. then a hundred of etc.. that is not fun. Collect-a-thons suck. Banjo Kazooie at least had some fun transformations and whatnot, even though it felt like Mario 64 Lite. I just beat God of War 2. It was pretty cool, it's like Zelda (constantly acquiring new items to get past places you previously couldn't get past) meets Devil May Cry. Way too easy, and some of the puzzles were downright annoying and stupid, but swinging around and flying was fun. |
I bought a NDS at a yard sale for $5 yesterday!
So yeah. I guess I have a DS again. |
