it's not "as awesome as videodrome" and therefore worthy of contempt--

ha ha ha

or so some people think.

i liked it a lot.

and sure it's not the best of the best by cronenberg.

but it sure beats most of the crap out there.

Well, nothing is really better than Videodrome haha.

Yeah, it's nowhere near his best but I still found it a gripping, intriguing film.

atsonicpark 07.04.2008 01:51 PM

rice gun.

EMMAh 07.04.2008 01:53 PM

I watched Double Happiness with Sandra Oh last night, and thought it was awesome.

A nice Canadian movie.

Seriously, that was probably the one Cronenberg film that has his trademarks stamped in every scene.

Sonic Youth 37 07.04.2008 06:04 PM

I really want to watch Rope, but I can't find it anywhere...

You've seen one??? I'm jealous.

Big just makes me want to be a kid again, or at least act like one :D

I'm watching Back to the Future at the moment. I've loved the whole trilogy since I first watched them all one New Years.

There's nothing like a Back to the Future marathon haha.

Pookie 07.05.2008 04:43 AM

Watched this again after the disappointment of This Is England.

atsonicpark 07.05.2008 07:11 AM

weird pookie, my friend just bought the this is england and made in britian at the same time about a month ago...

B+

Chasing Amy has never been one of my favorite Smith films. It definitely has it's moments though and I would probably put it above the low-brow Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (which is still decent) and even though I didn't bother seeing Jersey Girl, I'm going to assume this is superior to that film, as well.

davenotdead 07.05.2008 02:13 PM

for the 4th. because i was feeling all patriotic last night

acousticrock87 07.05.2008 02:52 PM

Four Months,Three Weeks, and Two Days, both excellent films!

LifeDistortion 07.05.2008 03:12 PM

Saw "The Savages", it was really good.

EMMAh 07.05.2008 10:48 PM

Across the Universe

Good and trippy at parts.

reginald 07.05.2008 10:57 PM

Not the last, but the NEXT....

I'm going to see James Bond, Dr. No, on the bigscreen tomorrow ! It's a new 35mm print from the negatives so it should be crisp and clear !

I love early Bond stuff and this is the first of the Sean Connery series from about '62 I believe.

No Pussy Galore, but Honey Rider ( Ursula Andress ) stars in it. I heard that Austin Powers and Alota Vagina will introduce the film tomorrow. Should be a hoot !

terriblecanyons 07.05.2008 11:05 PM

I personally cannot wait to see the new X-Files movie. I'm a huge fan.

Sonic Youth 37 07.05.2008 11:09 PM

It's been days since I've watched a movie all the way through and that's super rare for me. last one might have been O Brother Where Art Thou?

drrrtyboots 07.05.2008 11:26 PM

My sister borrowed Kids from the library so I watched that.

EMMAh 07.05.2008 11:28 PM

Does your library have a good selection of movies?

Mine doesn't really, but it's just a small branch so I'm sure the bigger ones have more.

Gotta love free movie "rentals" haha.

Me too. Across the Universe is a disgusting excuse for a movie.

biffbot 07.06.2008 01:01 AM

i thought it was an interesting idea - the home video as historical document as movie - until someone pointed out that it was just Blair Witch with aliens... then i was forced to admit that i had been trying to find something about it to keep my interest since the characters and the story really weren't doing it.

!@#$%! 07.06.2008 12:04 PM

i didn't expect this to be a masterpiece, and of course it wasn't--- it certainly cointains many weak plot points and unbelievable bullshit (what do you expect from superhero movies, really), but it was fun and occasionally funny and a good flick all around, thanks in no small part to whatshisnames acting-- junior--downey-- yeah. too much cgi at times but what can you do? still, a fun superhero movie.

It's good to watch the two films in succession. Made In Britain was made in the early 1980s, This Is England is a definite case of rose-tinted spectacles.

I found This Is England too simplistic, which is inevitable when you're making a film dealing with those issues, but insist on a beginning, a middle, and an end.

I was expecting something more like a Mike Leigh or Alan Clarke film, so I was setting myself up for a disappointment really.

Silent Dan Speaks 07.07.2008 03:54 PM

Bonnie and Clyde. It was pretty cool, but I'm not sure if I liked Bonnie. I just may watch it again in a day or two to try and make up my mind.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 07.07.2008 05:24 PM

I wanted to like it. But I just couldn't. If the movie had just taken the time to breathe a little, here and there...it might've actually been somewhat engaging.

Three movies in two days, each ending in suicide

Mother Night - based on Vonnegut. this movie is crazy

Manchurian candidate - great fucking movie. love this crazy movie

Gonzo - the life and tim4es of Hunter S Thompson.
very good, but the pacing of it was a bit slow at times.

!@#$%! 07.08.2008 09:43 AM
