I'm fairly content with how I look but a little fixated on improving myself. I started "dieting" in january & lost about 10-12 lbs so far, but still have a gut and other miscellaneous places I wish were thinner. My height is probably my biggest problem-- I'm 5'2 and its hard to reach things on shelves, in the cupboards, etc. It also makes it a pain in the ass to shop for pants because I have to get all my jeans in the short/petite version.
Other than that, I dig myself physically. I have huge lips, big deep-set eyes which make me look forever tired, and some pretty crazy-colored natural hair. My height & size allow me to shop in the little girls' department at stores (cheap shit!) and I like being referred to as the little, cute girl. My boyfriend loves the way I look so I guess I should be satisfied. |

i guess he's obsessed with photos of the human face. i'd imagine he grew up looking at magazines... every artist has their repertoire and obsessions... some greater than others i think. but i do like his work-- a lot actually. |

I'd say he is mostly obsessed with his own face, which seems to have gotten a lotta play over the decades. |
I saw a Charlie Rose interview with Chuck Close about a month or so ago.
He was somewhat engaging and can talk about art fairly well. I'll give him that, as I am not a fan. |
Charlie Rose can interview absolutely anyone. That guy does his homework.

From certain angles I can look quite fine (and I mean fine in the inflection a pimp would say it- baby, you is 'f'hine'). However, I'm not really very happy about my general face area. My head is unusually large to the point at which most 'one size fits all' hats don't fit me. My mouth is very wide. I have a huge overbite. My nose looks wide too if you look at it straight on and the nostrils look permanently flared. My eyes are nice but because I wear glasses you wouldn't notice.
But from certain angles I suppose I'm okay. |

But that is part of his newer schtick... Grid portraiture filled with lozenges and finger prints, made with his index finger of course (putting himself in the portraits). tautology maybe, but its repeated motif that makes all of his art work. I do like his older/1970's work alot more, the grid works remind me of some garbage spit out of photoshop. Quote:
Cindy Sherman a'la Chuck Close, nice. |
I don't know. I'd probably just go all post-modern and draw myself with a mirror skin. Something about not being able to see into me, and any judgements you make about me based purely on appearance ultimately representing a reflection of yourself. Whatever - that's what springs to my mind right now.

generally i'm alright about the way i look, i'm very photogenic so i look a lot better in photos than i do in real life.
here's what i don't like: i have dark rings under my eyes that never go away arched nostrils i look weird in profile i don't like my hair i'm growing a beer gut my facial hair is patchy, i can't grow a decent beard. but what can you do? |

i found that worrying too much about the way i look only leads to feeling bad about yourself as a person so i try not to do it. that said:
i want more hair like to be taller better lungs, asthamtic able to grow a better beard no glasses i dont think that i stand out enough and just kind of blend in but that does have its advantages as well. |
I am fairly indifferent about my appearance. Although I do get called a hippie quite a bit due to my beard and long hair. It's to be expected, I guess.

fine!!!

I feel like I am a pretty good looking guy. Normally I wouldn't say that, I don't like bragging; I only feel ok saying that because as of recently I put on someweight, having gotten married and all, and I'm not too happy with how I look currently. But I am working on it :)

danny, you are cute and you know it. i'm not very comfortable with the way i look. i'd be happier if i had cut my hair properly on saturday. my bangs are horrid. but otherwise, i've always really liked my eyes and eyebrows. |
