REM - E-Bow The Letter with Patti singing, thats eiery. infact so is alot of New Adventures in Hi-Fi
also, this sounds silly but when i was a kid Sgt. Peppers use to scare me and i have no idea why |
when i first got into sy i was about 13 or so. they kind of scared me. goo was the first one and on the ride home from getting it i was looking thru the artwork. some of those pics of kim were sort of frightening. she looked so severe.
then and now i go to sleep with music playing. i remember when i got evol i put it on the cd player one night when going to sleep. i woke up in the middle of the night with that heart beat thumping away on secret girls. it was kind of terrifying! it gave me nightmares. confusion is sex and sonic death were pretty scary for my 13 year old ears too. also the first time i listened to john coltrane it was his sax drum duet interstellar space. that was scary-i couldnt even listen to it then. |
![]() CRADLE OF FILTH!!!!!!!!!!!!! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Almost as terrifying as... SLIPKNOT! Fucking lame. |

the first christian death album.
|
The first Christian Death album is pure comedy!
I bought that in the mid 80s as a gothicky-type teenager, and even then I thought that album was totally cheesy and hilarious. I was primed to eat it up with a spoon, but wound up laughing uncontrollably. |

agreed. i hate all these fuckers. |
Burning Witch and Khanate both have quite unsettling vocalists, Alan Dubin and Edgy 59, respectively. Both feature Stephen O'Malley, as Sunn fans will know, but I think Dubin's confrontationally despondent vocals make me feel uncomfortable everytime i listen to them.

i think it's a great album. i was never a gothic or death rock dude, but that album amazed me when i first heard it. i was never scared of it, but i can see how some people may think it's scary. i can see why you think it's cheesy, same with the bauhaus. most gothic shit is a little cheesy. |
sunn 0)) scares the shit out of me in the best sorta way

1st track on Keiji Haino's "Watashi Dake?", all just his vocals no guitar no hurdy gurdy no electronics... awesome.
|
when I was 13-14 years old I was scared shitless of the butthole surfers. It was fucking crazy cover art and insanity abounded and it was too much!!!!! yeah.

I still think that's an amazing album, most of the stuff with Rozz was pretty cool. Rozz did later (supposedly) eat a dead dog on stage, that's kinda scary. I think that was for his side band Premature Ejaculation or something though. |
The last couple Scott Walker albums...
|
blue sabbath black cheer
black mayonaise moevot most of the early dark ambient releases zoviet france phil blankenships solo horrror noise stuff and the cherry point project etc.. |
GG Allin And The Murder Junkies- He liked to fling his feces into the audience and urinate mid-song. He threatened to kill himself on stage and take the audience with him. etc.
GWAR- File under: Guys who take the joke too far. The Mentors- "Rape rock band" known for their "sexist lyrics." With tunes like "Golden Shower," you have to take your chances as an audience member since you never know when life is going to start imitating art. |
Slipknot scares the shit outta me.

The intro to Ghost's Sun is Tangging
Einstuerzende Neubauten - Seele Brent, and some others I can't think of Certain black metal bands |
