With the frequency I listen to SY, my 9 year old daughter has shown an inclination towards their music. So after her request the first album I placed on her ipod was Goo. I have followed up with Nurse, Washing Machine and more recently Murray Street & Rather Ripped.
Gotta love it.....she is now hooked on SY. |
I started with Dirty which is an amazing album. Then Sonic Nurse, then DD.

This would've been interesting as a poll.

I've started with Dirty, than Sonic Nurse came out after few days. and now I'm listening to them for 4-5 years.

This is cool! Hopefully I´ll manage to brainwash my kids as well when they´re a bit older :) |

Actually i would have to say "Sonic Youth: Live at Pompeii" would be the ultimate starter point, or perhaps "Pink Floyd: Gila Monster Jamboree". Both are widely available on 16mm film format. |
Silver Session for Jason Knuth unequivocally! You must first learn to embrace noise, the rest is secondary
|
I think i started out with one of worst "albums" to start with......Confusion/Kill Yr. idols......though I was hooked.
|
That's the great thing about Sonic Youth. It seems like even their worst albums can work as a means of getting someone into their music.
There's not too many bands you can say that about, in my opinion. |
Yeah, so true.

Bad Moon.....weed out the chaff.
