I'm gonna see The James Gang next Friday at Red Rocks outside Denver. This is with Joe Walsh, Jim Foxx and Dale Peters...the classic early 70s lineup....

I'll be picking up a friend coming in from Japan earlier that day and while he's here we'll also drive to the top of Pikes Peak...

Damn you. I'd kill to go to the t&g and/or ATP.

Cantankerous 08.06.2006 11:30 PM

i'll sell you a ticket for $100

drrrtyboots 08.06.2006 11:32 PM

If i could get to either of those i'd be all over that ticket but they're both pretty far although i'm sure you're talking about the t&g anniversary. Thanks though.

EricsTrip 08.07.2006 12:19 AM

I'll be at both of those. I have high expectations for the one tomorrow.

EDIT: I guess technically it's today. Whatever.

That Japanese New Music thing is intriguing. What is that, 7 bands formed by the three of them? Whatever. Yoshida kicks ass.

When I think about how much fun I had at The Knitters concert, I can't even imagine what an actual X show will be like. I hope I don't faint. That would be embarrassing. And anyway, I'm saving that for when Nsync decides to reunite.

Cantankerous 08.07.2006 01:28 AM

if it's as good as their bootlegs i will have gotten my money's worth/

Fantinfind 08.11.2006 09:21 PM

the fact that i was sick in the bathroom for part of it was a bit of a deterrent, but otherwise it was a good show.

luxinterior, what did you think?

I thought it was the most fun I've had in recent memory. X sounded amazing. When they played The Unheard Music...I mean, that was the unexpected highlight of the concert for me. I had been hoping for Nausea (though not the kind you had, which I'm sorry about), and of course that was great. But when they played the former, it just sounded unbelieveable. It's a good song on record, no doubt, but I was just shocked at how much better it could sound just because it was being played live.

I get sick of going to shows where everyone just stands there like they're bored to tears. When I see a band like X, I want to just go completely apeshit, and move around and sweat a lot and the whole package. As much as I like seeing Sonic Youth, the rest of the audience for the most part really pisses me right off. They love the songs, or so they say, but they won't even show it. I just like unreserved crowds. Which isn't to say that I am in favor of the many fistfights that broke out near me during the Rollins Band's set. On that note, Henry Rollins has always annoyed me greatly, and after that concert, I can honestly say that he still does. I had to try hard not to start laughing hysterically at all of his macho bravado for fear of being beaten up by one of the 200+ lb guys around me. Anyway, seeing him in person was very surreal. I can't really say I'm a fan of his, but it seems I see him on TV all the time, and seeing people from TV in real life is always very weird.

How much of it did you miss when you were in the bathroom? That really is unfortunate. My friend that I was with said she felt physically ill during the Rollins Band. Afterwards we went to Steak n Shake and ate cheeseburgers. I had a good time.

i was sick for maybe 10 minutes at the beginning of X's set from a bunch of painkillers that i had taken for a cough (they are quite useful as a cough supressant, though they incidentally can also induce nausea). i did notice quite a bit of turmoil during the rollins band set, which was rather amusing, particularly given my state of mind at the time. most people at shows here are so boring, especially when i went to see bob dylan. i literally almost fell asleep.
i, too, was also hoping that X would play nausea.

10 minutes, well that's not bad. It wasn't even the best ten minutes of the show.

People who go to Rollins Band concerts are the type of people who like to headbutt other people.

Did you see Dylan at the Pageant? I thought I remembered him playing there not too long ago. I wasn't there, but I was told that it was a great concert even though he just sat in a chair the whole time and didn't move. Does this sound like the one you went to?

i saw dylan twice at the pageant a couple of years ago (i think he did three shows in a row) and he was great, and then i saw him in april and it was less than great. he didn't touch a guitar, he just stood at his keyboard the whole time. you really can't go into a dylan show with any expectations.

I can't picture anyone standing at a keyboard without also automatically picturing them playing "I Ran (So Far Away)". I'm guessing he didn't do this.

I'm trying to get my dad to take me to see the Silver Jews or Deerhoof.
