Great to hear, I was there too, at the first row and had a nice chat with Lee afterwards too. Looking forward to hear your recording (soon?). Thx Lee & the band for an outstanding evening ;) |
It was a really superb (and indeed hot) gig yesterday in Antwerp! It's allways great to see a band enjoying themself that much on stage while playing. Thanks Lee & co for a great evening. Couldn't resist buying the demos-LP and the mixes-7" offcourse :)
I recorded 'Karenology' (iPhone). You can watch it here: https://vimeo.com/43447401 Really looking forward to the recording of the whole show. I also liked Tall Firs a lot. Good gig. I bought their latest LP afterwards. Apparently it came with a digital download-coupon, that also contains 5 covers (including Fri/End) ... which is allways nice :) |
really looking forward to tomorow, especially seeing as they've played karenology!!
hopefully it went down well and they'll play it again, or maybe skip tracer?? anyone know who the support band is in london? |

It's The Men. |
Don't forget to buy that DEMOS album. It's beautiful, just finished listening to it. Comes with a mp3 download coupon too (the 7"doesn't have that)
And most of all ENJOY! @sirki, you were one of those three tall guys? I was standing next to you then, or behind during the first part ;-) |

I was not with the three tall guys, but was standing right next to them. I was the tall guy with the yellow sweater. Looking forward to your recording even more now :) The DEMOS-album is, indeed, very beautiful! |

I really couldn't say. I don't have any of their releases... I've heard people (on here) say good things about them though. |
I shall youtube them!
|
Damn, if I knew that the demo LP contained an mp3-coupon too, I would have bought it too. Shame they didn't told it.

Color scan of Lee @Trix, Antwerp flyer + scan from original setlist, signed by Lee: http://www57.zippyshare.com/v/24041951/file.html :) |
I was standing above that what-you-call-it-thingy with tons of switches and stuff sunday in Paris; the setlist was there to be seen; I remember it quite well.
It went : - Angles - Shouts - Tomorrow Never Comes - Off the Wall - Xtina (Lee saying it came to him thinking about a visit to his hometown, some 20 years after his teenage days; some week-ends, a few parents would leave town, leaving the house to their kids who would invite their friends to try some stuff at night - booze, weed, an encounter with another gender - as people do when they're in their teens; back in his hometown, Lee found some of his former friends, still there, doing the same kind of things they used to before his departure; that got him thinking about how some people move on and some don't feel the need to, without any moral judgment) (that song was brilliant) - Hammer Blows - Lost (brilliant) - Walk On (same) - Thanks for Sending Me an Angel - Fire Island - Waiting on a Dream (brilliant) --- - Stranded - Genetic The venue was a cozy one, and a fair amount of people got the opportunity to have a word with Lee. Steve, Alan and Irwin (the most reserved) were also accessible. I could well be the same everywhere they play. |
Oh I do hope I could be with a concert like that.
I am so happy with the album "Between The Times & The Tides" Any change he'll come to the Netherlands with his band??? |
not on this tour right now, he'll be in Germany in July together with Disappears. So Cologne will be the closest by probably
damn would have loved to hear Genetic |
Lee should come back to Chicago and do his own show and not open for m. Ward. Just sayin'.

Hi,
first post here but a long time invisible guest (and a loooong time SY fan)... Living in Switzerland. I have the chance to live near the Bad bonn (a small local venue) that organize the Kilbi (small festival, 1500-2000 places) each year since 1991. last years we have had: 2009 Sonic youth 2010 Lee Ranaldo (experimental set) + Rother/Shelley/Mulan 2011 Disappears 2012 Lee Ranaldo (+ Steve Shelley) with times and tides (1st of june) So... we're lucky! THis year the set was pretty good and also ended with Karenology. I was able to find the 7" and just ordered the demo lp. Can't wait to listen to it! |
excellent gig last night. The songs sound so much better live and the band sounded really tight
the 2 accoustic songs were done on electric with some damn fine shuffly beats from big steve ended with Karenology. sublime. was very supprised how few people were there. |
I seriously fucking hate you all.
Not really, but still. |
Genetic with Alan Licht on guitar was rougher.
