what a fantastic album. Plus there's a song with a peculiar title on it: "Košice flower". Košice is the name of the city in Slovakia where i was born. No idea how the idea for that song title came about to a band from Bristol.

The new The Bad Plus is great. It's obviously not the same band, but this new group has really found their sound

I've listened to this every morning for several days now. I was shocked when I first heard it. I have 9 other Necks albums, and I'm used to hypnotic, dense, uptempo works. This is shockingly quiet, spacious, and mysterious. But it slowly, gradually, creeps up on you. It lingers in your brain even when you dismiss it as a failed work upon initial listens. I now see this as genius / masterpiece.

(Yes, I'm fucking back. Laughing/joking on Lightfoot's death day is pathetic, but, alas, most other forums are even worse, in my experience. I've cut my losses. I'll live with the stupid bullshit here. The good outweighs the bad. Plus, there's just 17 people here, vice 17000.)

I searched Primal Scream - Come Ahead and found fuckall. Did I search wrong?

There's some good reviews, but also bad. I don't get the bad.

A few years back my friend was in a shop and he saw a bloke he thought he knew from AA meetings and went up and to say hello, but the guy mouthed "just fuck off" to him. As my friend walked away he realised it was Bobby Gillespie who'd just told him to fuck off.

15CD Roland Kayn - The Ortho Project recently arrived at my door. It is a daunting thing! It might take me years to wrap my head around this behemoth. But I love what I am hearing, even if I cannot grasp it yet.

Swans new live album - Live Rope is monumentally insane. Leaving Meaning and The Beggar were very good albums imho, but I sensed that the ageing Gira was mellowing, and getting ready for retirement. But this 2CD 150min Motherfucker presents a ferocious, reinvigorated 70 year old Gira. (Sheesh, what's there to be angry about in 2024?) 3 tracks from recent albums are nearly unrecognizeable in reworked forms (including a 53min The Beggar!), and 3 new tracks perhaps hint at the new studio album coming soon. One thing is for certain: Swans is still a formidable, mighty beast. This live document is breathtaking. I cannot fucking wait for the new studio album.

Phil described the ending of "Co-Owner of Trees" as Diamond Sea-esque. Pretty cool album.

Babe The Blue Ox - What About Today

This one really flew under the radar--it came out in June this year. No physical release, just a download for sale. The band still sounds fine as ever.

Come on. Kim's album wasn't even in my priority list until I heard that song - a solo home acoustic take on it by Jeff Tweedy, actually. Then I listened to the original and was blown away as I hadn't been in quite a while by new music.
