I don't believe they broadcast this. I was listening for about 45 minutes before SY and I didn't hear it... |

On the radio website....HotRod (studio DJ) posted, 'not sure if we'll archive this'.....I posted....Please archive !!!! We'll see... |
I fortunately got to catch about an hour of the show. I missed the beginning, but I'm happy that I got to hear it at all.

Drunken Butterfly 1 1/2 times ! :D First time I haven't seen Incinerate on a setlist since RR has been out !! Or have I missed one ? |
Nope, they didn't play it.
As I said a few pages ago, they only played 2 songs off RR! Maybe they've been reading this forum more than we thought :D |
She is Not Alone??? That sucks... I love that song live.......:(
Damn, that whole setlist is spectacular! Do another tour and play that! |

Ha ! Yes, I heard the whole show. I meant, this is the first show I haven't SEEN Incinerate played since RR came out !! I wondered if I'd missed a show's setlist that they hadn't played it since '06 !! ;) |
Haaa okay :D sorry
|
I'm sure it's because after their DDN thing, that's newer to them than RR. Not that surprising.
I'm bummed I missed the first two songs. Those are awesome live songs. |
what? I missed this! where can it be found later on? meh
|

Here's a just posted blog from WFMU,
July 05, 2008 Sonic Youth / Feelies Battery Park Pix and Thanks We'll credit Gaylord Fields' onstage Feelies intro invocation/namedrop of Bud Costello as the positive vibeage that kept big rain away from Battery Park yesterday, but it was a great atmosphere all around for the thousands who attended the WFMU-supported Sonic Youth/Feelies show put on by River To River and Downtown Alliance. We should say upfront that both bands' soundmen were geniuses, it's the best I've heard either act, and a big shout to our own Irene Trudel, Bill Bowen, Scott Williams and Diane Farris for swinging WFMU's first ever big-venue live broadcast for the Sonic Youth portion, which went out at 5:00 PM on Friday. SY put in a set leaning heavily on some classics, opening with "She Is Not Alone", tossing in "Silver Rocket", "Cross the Breeze", "The Sprawl" "Making the Nature Scene", "Schizophrenia" and more, with Thurston at one point calling FMU "American's Only Rock and Roll Radio Station". The band, which carved this event out by inviting the Feelies and helping us on board in the first place, even went above and beyond by having their merch company Tannis Root create a limited edition WFMU/Sonic Goo commemorative shirt (pictured above with SY drummer Steve Shelley) which they donated all the proceeds of to the station. Enormous thanks to Sonic Youth and the Feelies (who we couldn't broadcast, but were also fantastic beyond belief despite the fact they had to condense their set into an hour timeslot), and also Ken and Ben Walker for pre/post show remote, Liz Berg, Tony B., Joe McGasko, Jason Sigal, Dave Cunningham, and all our volunteers that helped with and staffed the merch/Free Music Archive giveaways, Hot Rod for running board at FMU, River to River and Downtown Alliance staff who helped out (especially Jody, Chris and Dylan), Jay Weissman, SY manager Dan and Silva Management, Eric Dimenstein, Feelies manager Bob, Bill at Tannis Root, and everyone who jumped the ticket hurdles to get down. And thanks as well for the park's resident turkey for allowing our intrusion, and to the bomb-sniffing dogs who ensured that any lack of Crazy Rhythms-era material would not provoke a terrorist attack. Hopefully some live video to come shot by our documentarians, here's some pix on my Flickr page to check out now; feel free to add your own links to your pics or You Tubeage in comments below. Don't forget, WFMU's next Free Concert Series event happens August 20th at Damrosch Park in collaboration with Lincoln Center: The Ex (as a 10-piece!) with Getatchew Mekuria and more!Posted by Brian Turner on July 05, 2008 at 09:38 AM in Brian Turner's Posts, Music, New York City, |
Was anybody able to record this?
|
Is that a Sam Adams in Thurston's hand ? This is from the photos in the 'flicker' link above...

Some VERY cool T-shirts from the show, again from the 'flicker' link above...

the one with the "fake" ddn cover is epic!
|
I never see band T-Shirts for $15 anymore.
I loike the Goo one, as well as the DDN one. They should've done EVOL, replacing EVOL with WFMU...that would've been awesome. |
while browsing the wfmu website i found this bizarre clip.Easily the weirdest thing ive seen all year. You'll never look at breakfast the same again !

(I donīt bother read the thread now, just popped into internet cafe) So did anyone recorded it? Is it in archives on that radioīs homepage? Could anyone bother to download audacity and could possibly record it from archives? Iīm in Spain for another week, canīt do it myself.
|
still not up in the archives. It has definitely ben aud taped by some guy from the nyctaper site, will edit and up it soon methinks. On dime someone upped he feelies set (which to my understandig was broadcasted on radio but not online streamed). I recorded the stream with vlc player in wav (which is pretty pointless since the streaming was 128kbps mp3), and honestly I don't think it's worth the time to edit this huge file with streaming hiccups/pauses and frequencies crushed by the compression when the radio broadcast+a most likely good aud recording will surface soon (supposedly)...

This is why I wasn't too upset that I was unable to record it streaming.....Since many thought the mix was so good from the crowd, I'd imagine a fine audience source will show up as well....SOON PLEASE !!! :) |
Yeah, I figured if I couldn't be there, I would just wait for the mp3/FLAC/OGG of the show.
|
if they archive it, it'll be without pauses...
The hotrod show is up in which the play about 11 sy songs in order: http://mp3archives.wfmu.org/archive/...R/hr080704.mp3 http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/27798 |

I didn't bring my gear, figured with the rain and radio bcst I'd just go and have fun and yell and scream and ruin everyone else's recordings for a change...if you hear some jerk who won't stop shouting for dv69, thats me. |
