Kodachrome 2017 Netflix

Someone from work mentioned it, I hadn’t heard about it. Neither had I heard Ed Harris name mentioned in a while..... it doesn’t disappoint!

Because who doesn't like some religious satire?

Seriously, such a good movie if you have no strong ties to organized religion.

Such a classic!

Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin was brilliant in a wheelchair.

h8kurdt 09.01.2020 01:38 AM

Went to see Tenet yesterday.

Can't help but feel that Nolan has stretched himself a bit too much on this one. The soundtrack was great though.

Rob Instigator 09.01.2020 08:36 AM

Watched a 70's film called ASYLUM, quite creepy and suspenseful

Is that the portmenteau film, with a sequence of loosely connected stories? If so yeah, it is good. Hit and miss (as those kinds of films always are) but still enjoyable.

That it is. I enjoyed it. The situations are more gripping than the FX but hey, who am I to judge?

tw2113 09.02.2020 10:39 PM

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

lol it is what it is

Buffy is my favorite intellectual property of all time

The movie though... yeah that's a rough concept. The tv show brought that shit to life, and with far less studio butchering

Watching Paul Reubens ham it up as a vampire always makes the movie worth it for me though

That's the one. No regrets, but definitely subpar to the show. Too much story to regulate to 90min

Dr. Eugene Felikson 09.04.2020 12:14 AM

Yeah very loose with the concept

The show is brilliant though, and the comics ain't half bad either

Not the biggest fan of the recent BOOM! reboot but im hoping it finds its footing

Best thing about the BUffyverse was how much it could catch you off guard. once the writers found that groove they clearly just had so much fun playing in the demon and vampire filled universe

shit was cool

Really interesting film with a brilliant main premise (a virus transmitted by spoken language). It did nothing on 1st release but seems to be gathering a bit of a cult following as more people find out about it.

shhhh ;)

Yep, I'm pretty sure (as in - not really sure?!) I saw it referenced in a Mad Max documentary.

Really enjoyed this, have never seen a Fassbinder movie before, the first time I heard of him was from the John Waters movie Cecil B. Demented.

i fucking looooooove his stuff. cruel, hilarious, depressing, eye-opening, all at once.

This movie is beautiful. A lot to unpack with this. Dealing with Haitian culture. Their connection to voodoo, colonialism. Such a great movie.

Romero walkers or infection runners?

LifeDistortion 09.06.2020 01:11 AM

Neither. Seeing as this isn't a movie based off western culture's idea of what zombification is. Its a French film set in Haiti, that shows Voodoo as what it is, a religion. In fact, I think the movie even addresses outsiders' misunderstanding of Voodoo, and the plight of Haitian people being used by outsiders for slave labor.

tw2113 09.06.2020 04:27 PM

1977's The Hills Have Eyes

tw2113 09.06.2020 10:39 PM

Previously: The Mask, and a docu on bourbon whiskey.

Currently:

tw2113 09.07.2020 12:10 AM

I trust remembering this less, because of strong bourbon, but Bride of Re-Animator

_slavo_ 09.07.2020 02:38 AM

I watched Dante's Peak yesterday
Cringy yet pretty good, if you have a knack for catastrophic movies, which I do.

Hell Comes To Frogtown

tw2113 09.07.2020 08:52 PM

I've been watching a lot of things this holiday weekend...adding Suburban Gothic to the mix.

d.sound 09.07.2020 11:02 PM

I don't watch new movies much but then last week Bill and Ted 3, which I had been waiting for for 8 years came out last weekend, and a new Charlie Kaufman movie came out Friday.
Where my Kaufman obsessives at?

Rob Instigator 09.09.2020 09:23 AM

I enjoyed Bill & Ted 3. had good laughs.

Finally got around to watching it. Wanted to watch it when it was still in theaters back in February, but was too much of a homebody at that time. Then Covid put the world in limbo. Finally though fuck it, google shall have my 4.99.

Great decision. Maybe it's due to me being starved for good movies (mostly been watching TNG and DS9, it's been months since my last movie), but that was an absolutely exhilerating watch. Witty and clever writing, dynamic performances, great set design and cinematography, very fine acting all around (Though Daniel Craig as a southerner took some getting used to. A good perfomance, but the accent took me out of it just a tiny bit) and some biting social satire.

NYCgaf16 09.11.2020 05:16 AM

I love that movie! it's so cool and sometimes gross!

nice choice :)

The Social Dilemma on Netflix
Airplane!

tw2113 09.12.2020 11:01 PM

From Airplane! to Spaceballs.

LifeDistortion 09.13.2020 12:19 AM

The Red Shoes followed by Batman: Mask of the Phantasm both first watches.

Rob Instigator 09.14.2020 10:35 AM

Black Magic from 1949. Orson welles plays Cagliostro in alexander Dumas adaptation.

it was on TV super late. one of the few welles films I had not seen.

Antagon 09.19.2020 04:55 PM

Rip Steakface!

tw2113 09.20.2020 07:15 PM

Rudy, which I'm now picturing as just the full length training montage for Samwise Gamgee helping Frodo Baggins get to Mt. Doom.

Dr. Eugene Felikson 09.30.2020 08:10 PM

I really dig Days of Heaven

Very few movies are able to soothe and unnerve you at the same time quite like this

Cienmatography is just breathtaking. I often feel the need to shower after watching this. Like Cries and Whispers or something lol
