Soon as you start giving too much, trustin' too much, expecting too much...you've failed.

Don't ask for shit. Request nothing. Be in debt to no one.

Don't let anyone owe you any favors.

Don't lend what ya cant afford to give away.

Don't say shit if ya can't back it up.

Spend time alone. Explore yr own thoughts.

If ya feel crazy, out of tune, unable to relate....don't fake it. Never. Scream in the fucking streets if ya feel like it. If they don't like it, they can go fuck themselves.

read the books you want to read. No reason to impress anyone w/ that "I've worked my way though all the classics" bullshit.

listen to what you want. Create what you want. Carve it into yr stomach if you want. Fuck who ya want and how you want to. If they don't dig it, shit's not going to work. Never.

If ya feel cheated, push it out the window. Forget it ever existed + move on. Best revenge ever is making 'em think you truly don't care. + care you should not.

If ya love, love with everything. if ya hate, like Rollins says.."hate 'till it hurts".

"Normal is just a setting on a washing machine" -WSD

"no sense makes sense" - Charles Manson

I'm drunk, + I'm pissed. There is a thread for this...but I'm not going to say whatever it is that's pissing me off because it's not worth it. Won't matter in 2 days, anyways.

I'm going now.

-AA (alcoholics anonymous or ann ashtray???)

+ I already know this is going to cause shit. I know it'll be torn apart and thrown in my face for the sake of peer approval + positive reps.

Negative reps are cool though....just some dick's way of letting ya know he cared enough to read everything ya wrote.

yummy.

ann ashtray 07.06.2010 03:23 PM

SONIC GAIL 07.06.2010 04:06 PM

I am going to break out of this shell and drag ryan along with me. He told me to so i should right? fuck this normalcy it is just not workin out

atsonicpark 07.07.2010 05:00 AM

Garbage dump.
Oh garbage dump.
I can feed the world with my garbage dump.

atsonicpark 07.07.2010 05:02 AM

I actually have just about every parole hearing that he attended on DVD. I also have every Manson documentary ever released. I highly reccomend MANSON (1973), which shows the Manson Family with some of their kids (!). I also reccomend CHARLES MANSON SUPERSTAR. I have tons of his tv specials and shit too... that interview with Geraldo is amazing. I also have every CD he's ever been on. I also have probably every book ever written about him. TONS of great, rare Manson dvd's at stumpydisks.com..

I made a Manson thread a while back... check it out.

Everything I do is always brand new.. I'm on the premise of reality.

atsonicpark 07.07.2010 05:03 AM

My favorite thing is when he tells Geraldo that he could have Geraldo's head put in a box if he wanted to.

DeadDiscoDildo 07.07.2010 04:51 PM

Um, my band and Van Dyke Parks are playing the same music festival this september...I emailed him and he emailed me back. We're going to meet at some point. What a cool, humble guy. This is big for me. I dont know what to do. haha...

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 07.07.2010 05:02 PM

it's so simple to look at every little thing i do wrong
it's so simple to overlook every little thing i do right, right?
i think too much
i feed too much
i'm gone too much
i sleep too much
i starve too much
i'm bored too much
i age too much
i'm way too much too stuck up
you're probably right this time but i don't want to listen
you're probably right this time but i don't even care
i faint too much
i think too much
i stack too much
it stings too much
i'm at too much
i'm pissed too much
i need too much
i'm not one to trust
you're probably right this time but i don't want to listen
you're probably right this time but i don't even care
and if it was mine to say i wouldn't say it
and if it was mine to say i wouldn't speak
i'm bored too much
i think too much
i bend too much
your face is too much
i feed too much
i'm pissed too much
i sleep too much
i slap too hard to...
you're probably right this time but i don't want to listen
you're probably right this time but i don't even care
and if it was mine to say i wouldn't say it
and if it was mine to say i wouldn't speak

Stay away from 38. Special + Molly Hatchet (I actually went to school w/ a girl named Molly Hatchet, haha).

I don't know, man. It's really hard to say...most of the blusier-rockish stuff I've been listening to lately doesn't come from the south...but is def. informed by it. I hear it in some of the Southern Lord stuff...esp. Earth's "Hex". I'm sure you've heard it already.

Lotsa peeps are diggin' the Drive by Truckers (they are from GA). They started out somewhat punk rock but moved into a somewhat southern rock direction. I'm not a serious fan, but you might dig 'em. Lots of good reviews on their new record.

The Glasspack are are ok. I want to say they are from LA, or maybe TX...can't remember. Sorta like Jesus Lizard meets southern-fried rock.

The Allman Brothers are excellent (well, were....).

I listen to tons of straight-ahead blues more so than southern rock, and quite a bit of stuff informed by the blues (like say the Stooges + MC5) but def not southern rock.

Some blues artists I'd recommend:

Skip James
Blind Willy Johnson
Buddy Guy (LISTEN TO "SWEET TEA", more specifically the song "Baby Please Don't Leave Me" off of that Sweet Tea album....listen to it NOW on youtube...like, RIGHT NOW...haha). Buddy deserves much, much more than what he gets.
Mississippi John Hurt (if ya like story-teller type blues)

You prolly know all this stuff already. I'm gonna stop before I make a fool of myself.

ann ashtray 07.07.2010 07:29 PM

Lots of respect for the southern hippy. Lots of respect to a lot of the bands that came out of the southern rock scene...

But, esp. being that I live in Macon (home of Capricorn Records + the Brothers) most anyone like me w/, i don't know, "progressive" ideas towards music tend to try and avoid the southern rock thing as far as newer stuff is concerned. It's def something that is still alive + well....maybe not as popular on a world-wide scale as it was, but it's around. Lot's those older guys still playing, and plenty of younger ones too that want to appeal to them. I've always hated tradition when it comes to most things. Always.

Look up "Under the Gazebo" on myspace. They're a friend of mine's band....really good/weird/acid/folky stuff. Sadly, they broke up. They were one of my fav. bands from this area.

Seriously, thanks.

Have you heard Derek Trucks' stuff? You might be into him. If you let yourself get into it, this is sort of amazing. I think he's from Florida. It must be the humidity.

Man, I know people that have jammed w/ Trucks! I've never met 'em or anything like that, though. But like Widespread Panic + The Brothers, Trucks is a household name around here.

I'll check out that link soon (can't right now...at work)

ann ashtray 07.07.2010 07:57 PM

I don't hate Trucks, man...He's just not someone I spend much of my free time listening to.

The fucking heat, the fucking heat. It's no death valley or the amazon, but temperatures of 30 celsius is quite alot for us (it being minus 25 C some months back).

Well, at least I can be a procrastinating student hack and not to do any real work.

_slavo_ 07.13.2010 08:40 AM

is it really that hot up there in Finland?
it is fucking 35 over here in Slovakia.
