^^^ It's goooooooood! You gotta be in the mood for it, but once you are, it's a beautiful masterpiece. Aoyama is a great director -- Sad Vacation, Eureka, Eri Eri Lema Sabachthani?, Wild Life, Desert Moon, Helpless, and the superstrange/artsy Forest With No Name are just amazing movies, and I'm slowly working my way through his whole filmography, thanks to asiatorrents. In fact, I jsut watched another one..

Chinpira: Two Punks...

An early work of Shinji Aoyama, this one feels a LOT like Takeshi Kitano's brilliant works (especially Kids Return), though not quite as much as the lone IMDB review would have you believe. "The sudden quick violence, out of nowhere, after a slow minimal stretch with not much appearing to happen thing" which is Kitano's trademark is here in full effect, and Aoyama borrows a LOT of Kitano's actors and camera movements for this. And, yep, the movie even opens with a beach shot. Still, I can't blame the director for wanting to do his Kitano homage, and in a lot of ways it feels like a long lost film of the Master, by someone who would, in 4 years, become a Master in his own right. A nice little film but I'd just watch Beat's films instead.

6/10

A Day at the Races Really good Marx Bros, but can't help but cringe when the Marx Bros cover their faces to pass as black. The scene in itself with the music is one of the better moments of the movie.

Definitely. 'The Bed You Sleep In', 'Bell Diamond', 'Slow Moves', 'Speaking Directly' and 'Angel City' are probably all 9/10s to me.

I still have quite a few of his movies to see but hopefully I'll be able to see them all before I kick the bucket.
