OK, so let's say the World Health Organization is fucking up. Their advice, then —as you posted it, with the inevitable infowars.com address embedded would sound a lot similar to your candidate's, except in his case it's no lockdowns at all, not even as a last resort. 'Cause that's for weak old economy-wreckers like the rival candidate, plus Covid-19 doesn't even kill people anymore because you can beat it at Walter Reed within a weekend, you follow. But for some reason you're... what, concerned about the brutal rise in infections shown in the graphic shared by _tunic_? So which fucking is it?

:fuckyou:

Slovakia has hit 2000 new cases daily, Switzerland has cca 5000.

I don't know where it's safer to be. But fuck it, I'm going back to Slovakia and will stay there a couple of months, just like I did from March to August.

by raw population numbers switzerland seems to be doing better, but that provides no context . glad to hear you’re heading back home for the time being!

Finger pointed at Swiss yodelling COVID-19 'superspreader' concert

Quote:

GENEVA: The coronavirus pandemic has not deterred the Swiss from sending yodels echoing across their mountain valleys, but a concert attended by 600 people is believed to have made one canton a European virus hotspot.

At the late September yodelling event in the rural Schwyz canton, people in the audience were asked to maintain social distancing, but mask-wearing was not required.

"We can't do anything about what happened with this yodelling group. We found out nine days after the performances that several people from the group were infected," event organiser Beat Hegner told RTS public television.

Now the pandemic has spread through the region, with 1,238 cases compared with just 500 in mid-September.

On Wednesday alone, 94 people tested positive, twice as many as the day before.

The overloaded cantonal hospital has asked people to begin wearing masks and avoiding gatherings.

"There's an extremely high rate of positive tests. We've gone from 30 to 50 per cent," hospital chief Franziska Foellmi said.

"It's time we reacted. The explosion in the number of cases in Schwyz is one of the worst in all of Europe," chief doctor Reto Nueesch posted online.

Cantonal authorities have stepped up infection control measures, making mask-wearing compulsory at all public and private events with more than 50 people and in situations where distancing can't be maintained.

But people can still go to the shops without covering their nose and mouth.

Switzerland isn't the only country to practice yodelling, an age-old style of singing where the performer rapidly switches between registers.

It's also practised in Austria's Tyrol region and in variant forms across the mountains of central Europe, from Poland to Romania.

Like archery, wrestling and the Alpine games, yodelling has been one of the building-blocks of common identity between Switzerland's culturally disparate regions since the 19th Century.

Yeah. In Switzerland, the most infected regions are the 'West' ones in 'French' part of the country - cantons Geneva, Vaud, etc. East with Zurich where I'm at is relatively okay.
But hey, when I don't need to stay here, I surely won't.

That's pretty kinky I'm not gonna lie.

In the UK, as with everywhere save NZ, shit is still going down. To lockdown, or to not lockown, that is (still) the question.

choc e-Claire 10.16.2020 04:39 AM

Victoria is doing well, in that we're now not the Australian state with the highest daily infection count. We were down to just two today!

_tunic_ 10.16.2020 05:12 AM

In that town hall meeting last night Trump claimed that Corona is almost over, but over the past two weeks the amount of new cases in the US have increased with 25%!!
Compare that number with the graph I posted for the Netherlands, on the previous page. In a few weeks shit will hit the fan again! Probably a week or so after the elections, maybe sooner.

See also the trend for the individual states. Numbers of new cases are increasing in all states except Puerto Rico.

No, Fox News said "the cure should not be worse than the disease", a complete banality that Can't-Tell-What-A-Parody-Is Donaldo parroted; Fox then reported your Führer saying it as if a new axiom had been established by a brilliant statesman, and so the evil stupidity loop goes. Kindly go Fox yourself and die.

By the way, just in case you haven't died yet (bummer): quoting the World Bank was damn rich of you - don't we have to do away with these, um, sinister international institutions to which the United States contribute supposedly getting fuckall in return? Yeah, your consistency is fabulous...

a) It is astonishingly insensitive to use suicide counts for your position on opening up businesses from lockdown. In Australia, at the very least, the suicide count is effectively identical to what it was in 2019, making this a completely ineffectual argument.

b) As Sweden has discovered, the economy generally only works if people are alive to participate in it. It's inevitable that it's taking a dump, which sucks - but will hopefully display some of the flaws in the current system.

FINALLY, this is how you do it (oooh, but it's through international coordination - gasp! - the horror!):

EU to link national COVID-19 tracing apps together

BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Commission on Monday launched an EU-wide system devised to link national COVID-19 tracing apps together in its latest effort to slow down the coronavirus pandemic. Following testing in different EU countries earlier this autumn, the bloc's executive arm said the system got underway with three national apps — Germany’s Corona-Warn-App, Ireland’s COVID tracker, and Italy’s immuni — now linked through the so-called interoperability gateway.

Sure, a number of technical things can go not exactly as planned. But this is part of how New Zealand fought and is fighting the virus in an exemplary way, SO WHY THE FUCK NOT TRY IT instead of just "recommending" to wear masks...
